40% Don’t Know Auschwitz

A comprehensive national survey was commissioned by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, to determine how much American adults really know about the Holocaust – the results of which were released on April 12, 2018, the global Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day).

You’re not going to like the results.  In fact, you’re not even going to believe the results.

There has been a significant rise in the usage of words like “Nazi” and “fascist” to describe other Americans, and the calling of the President “Hitler” has also grown exponentially.  And is it any wonder, when you hear that most Americans know little to nothing about the actual Holocaust/

Simon Wiesenthal, a Ukrainian Jew who lost most of his family to the Nazi death camps, then hunted down war criminals for the remainder of his life, once said:

When history looks back, I want people to know the Nazis weren’t able to kill millions of people and get away with it.”

I’m sorry to say, Mr. Weisenthal might be very disappointed to hear the major findings of this survey of American adults, which include:

  • Seven out of ten Americans (70 percent) say fewer people seem to care about the Holocaust than they used to
  • A majority of Americans (58 percent) believe something like the Holocaust could happen again

Claims Conference President Julius Berman noted, “On the occasion of Yom Hashoah, it is vital to open a dialogue on the state of Holocaust awareness so that the lessons learned inform the next generation.  We are alarmed that today’s generation lacks some of the basic knowledge about these atrocities.”

The study also found significant gaps in knowledge about the Holocaust:

  • Nearly one-third of all Americans (31%) and more than 4-in-10 Millennials (41%) believe that substantially less than 6 million Jews were killed (two million or fewer) during the Holocaust
  • While there were over 40,000 concentration camps and ghettos in Europe during the Holocaust, almost half of Americans (45%cannot name a single one – and this percentage is even higher amongst Millennials.
  • The vast majority (84%) of American adults believe that the Holocaust took place mostly in Germany.  Yet, here’s the reality – not a single Jew was ever gassed in a camp within Germany.
  • Most Americans (80 percent) have not visited a Holocaust museum

“This study underscores the importance of Holocaust education in our schools,” said Greg Schneider, Executive Vice President of the Claims Conference.  “There remain troubling gaps in Holocaust awareness while survivors are still with us; imagine when there are no longer survivors here to tell their stories. We must be committed to ensuring the horrors of the Holocaust and the memory of those who suffered so greatly are remembered, told and taught by future generations.”

Nothing is more telling of how idiotic people today have become, than to read how the video game Pokemon Go is related to the Holocaust:

America, get your heads out of your collective ass and read a book once in awhile.  You’re starting to look and sound pretty stupid.

The Holocaust Knowledge and Awareness Study was commissioned by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.   Data was collected and analyzed by Schoen Consulting with a representative sample of 1350 American adults via landline, cell-phone, and online interviews.  Respondents were selected at random and constituted a demographically representative sample of the adult population in the United States.

Israel Is Going…To The Moon!

The State of Israel is set to become only the fourth nation in the world to land a spacecraft on the surface of the moon, behind the United States, Russia, and China.  And they are about to do it in a way that no other nation has done it before!

(Credit: Mat & Lyon Creative)

Now, let’s be clear – we’re not talking about Israelis actually walking on the moon.  That’s a feat that even the United States has not done in over 46 years (if they ever did at all), and Russia and China have never sent men to the moon.

However, an Israeli nonprofit called SpaceIL announced in 2015 that they planned to visit the moon by the end of 2017.  While the clock is ticking now, if the mission ever happens at all, it will mark the first time a lunar mission is backed by private donors, rather than government funds.

SpaceIL made the announcement as part of its entry in the Google Lunar Xprize, a $30 million competition to send an unmanned rover to the moon, back in 2015.

To win the prize money, the rover has to roam around for at least 500 meters and snap high-definition video and images that can be sent back to Earth.  The SpaceIL team jokes that this lunar rover, like every self-respecting Israeli, will have the capability of sending a selfie back home.

SpaceIL was the first to sign a contract among the 16 total entrants, though all aimed to eventually get to the moon.

The team will be sending its rover by way of the SpaceX Falcon 9 launcher (The US-based space company Spaceflight Industries originally purchased the rocket and SpaceIL is now partnering with it to land the spacecraft safely on the moon.)

“Only three countries have ‘soft-landed’ a rover on the surface of the moon: the United States, the former Soviet Union, and China,” said SpaceIL CEO Eran Privman, in a statement. “Now the notion of the small state of Israel being added to this exclusive list look more promising than ever.”

The spacecraft will have the following components:

Once SpaceIL announced its launch contract, the remaining 15 teams had until December 31, 2016, to announce their own launch contracts.

In the end, there were 5 total teams that made it to the final cut:

According to Xprize, parts for the newly updated spacecraft are already beginning to arrive at the team’s facility in preparation for the 2017 launch.

“This takes us one huge step closer to [realizing] our vision of recreating an ‘Apollo effect’ in Israel,” Privman said, referring to the 1969 space craze that got a generation of American kids interested in science.

Israelis won’t be setting foot on the moon, but they’ll be breaking major ground nonetheless.  And we at the Calling Out Community can’t wait to see it happen.

Watch the SpaceIL video on this exciting project!

A United Nations Fox In Israel’s Henhouse

Minister of Foreign Affairs Stephane Dion delivers a statement as he is joined by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, right to left, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie Marie-Claude Bibeau and Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan during a press conference at the National Press Theatre in Ottawa on Feb. 8, 2016. In February 2016, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion called a press conference to publicly question the appointment of a Canadian law professor to a key United Nations job.

One wonders how “Libtarded” you would have to be before the Liberal government of Canada said “no way, this idiot needs to be fired”.

But even when a globalist government like Canada asks the United Nations to reconsider, they do nothing.  Now nearly 9 months later, UN Human Watch  joins a rising tide of opposition against this absolutely ridiculous, inappropriate and possibly fraudulent appointment within the well-heeled ranks of the United Nations – exposing their dark anti-Semitic plans.

talk-to-stupid-peopleFor the first time in our blog’s history, the Calling Out Community issues the following notice to our valued readers:

WARNING:  We assert that the foundational beliefs of the antagonist in this story, and the antagonist himself, are so BLATANTLY STUPID that uncontrolled squinting may result, as you continue to read the details. Reader discretion is advised.

A small but growing union of varied interests are demanding that he United Nations immediately suspend Michael Lynk, a Canadian expert on international law, from his appointment as “UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation Of Human Rights in the Palestinian Territory Occupied Since 1967.”

The job title itself shows the clear bias and intent of the United Nations to malign Israel every chance they can get (Israel, for example, would certainly not agree that they are “occupying” “Palestinian Territory”) – not to mention the fact that just reading the title causes epileptic fits.

But why on earth would a Canadian Liberal cabinet minister go out of his way to fight with the United Nations to have one of our own citizens fired from such a prestigious United Nations appointment?  It seems that Mr. Lynk has embarrassed Canada by failing to disclose, when he applied for the post, that he was:

…A member of the board of directors of the National Council on Canada-Arab Relations; a member of the advisory board of the “Canadian-Palestinian Education Exchange” (CEPAL), which promotes events like the “Annual Israeli Apartheid Week”; and, Lynk is also on the advisory board of Friends of Sabeel North America (a pro-Palestinian advocacy group).

Why would it matter that he failed to disclose his leadership role in three pro-Palestinian organizations when he applied to be come the United Nations special investigator, looking into allegation of Israeli human rights violations against Palestinians?  Hmmm, smells good to me – said no one, ever.

And this guy isn’t just biased, he’s clearly a card-carrying Jew-hater.  As mentioned, he sits on the board of an organization that hosts an “Israeli Apartheid Week“.  Just a tiny bit of anti-Israel bias, perhaps?

As they say in sports, “the fix is in”.

2016 Israeli Apartheid Week poster. (Credit: Israeli Apartheid Week website)

Apartheid Week is a misnomer – the word “apartheid” is defined in the dictionary as a uniquely-coined term relating to the racial discrimination policies of South Africa. Their site introduction:

“Each year, Israeli Apartheid Week takes place across more than 150 universities and cities. It aims to raise awareness about Israel’s ongoing settler-colonial project and apartheid policies over the Palestinian people.”

They list dates around the world, including in the mythical land called “Palestine”, which isn’t on any map, and South Africa – ironic to be trying to perpetrate “the Israeli apartheid” myth in the only country to have actual apartheid.  They also seem to be getting a lot of sponsorship money or something, as they are all over the world?

A letter from the UN Watch group to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday, October 27 was issued hours before Lynk presented a 26-page report on Israeli actions against Palestinians to the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee.  In it, he criticized the Jewish state for its actions in Gaza and the West Bank, particularly settlement building and what he termed “excessive use of force” against Palestinians.

Excessive force – wow.  1o,ooo rockets had been fired by Hamas at Israel over a decade, and Israel did nothing.  10,000 rockets, and over 2,300 were fired in 2012 alone, from UN-sponsored schools, hospitals, mosques, people’s homes – it was so outrageous.  When Israel finally took action to stop it, a pro-Palestinian spokesmen actually stated “no big deal, Hamas rockets mostly missed their targets anyway, but Israel’s rockets DIDN’T miss”.

bozoHEY KIDS – can you spot today’s special moral lesson, that the REAL Bozos in Hamas seem to have missed?

So, knowing that this guy was a total anti-Semitic hack with very public connections to pro-Palestinian groups, why would the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (@UNHumanRights) want him to oversee their investigations into Israeli human rights violations?  Isn’t it obvious – because they already wrote the final report, and just want someone to create the evidence.

So, clearly he was intentionally hired to do a hatchet job for them against Israel.

This becomes more obvious when you glance at the current membership of this “Human Rights” love fest including:

  • China (no comment required)
  • Cuba (no comment required)
  • Nigeria (the home of Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram, killing Christians by the thousands)
  • Philippines (whose wingnut President admitted on TV that he’s murdered 3 drug dealers – then told citizens to do the same)
  • Russia (no comment required)
  • (Credit: Sun Cartoons)
    (Credit: Sun Cartoons)

Saudi Arabia (how does a country, whose women cannot even drive or buy a coffee at Starbucks without male assistance,  get on the UN Human Rights Commission.  They also gripe about Israel’s military, budgeted at $18.6 billion, yet THEIR military budget is $87.2 billion)

  • UAE (they don’t even recognize Israel’s existence as a state, and the two countries have no formal diplomatic relations)
  • Venezuela (who’s people are starving and rioting in the streets)
  • Vietnam (America fought a war for 10 years almost to get rid of their Communists – who are still in power)

You could tell just from the make-up of Thugs ‘R Us that Israel would never get fair play with this bunch.  Still, it was shocking to read the following Fox News report on March 24, 2016 from the United Nations:

From the palatial Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room of the Palace of Nations, some of the great human rights violators in history meet to condemn Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East. (Credit: United Nations)
From the palatial Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room of the Palace of Nations, some of the great human rights violators in history meet to condemn Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East. (Credit: United Nations)

“On March 24, 2016, the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) wrapped up its annual meeting in New York by condemning only one country for violating women’s rights anywhere on the planet – Israel, for violating the rights of Palestinian women.

On the same day, the U.N. Human Rights Council concluded its month-long session in Geneva by condemning Israel five times more than any other of the 192 UN member states

There were five Council resolutions on Israel.  One each on the likes of hellish countries like Syria, North Korea and Iran.  Libya got an offer of “technical assistance.”  And countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia and China were among the 95 percent of states that were never mentioned.” (Emphasis mine)

It makes my blood boil

Again, they are talking about ISRAEL, the one little country in the Middle East of 8 million people, the only democracy in the Middle East?  This same Israel – where you are better off being a woman, a child, a senior, gay, Jewish, a Christian, a Muslim, black or an atheist than in any of the 16 enemy combatant nations that surrounds Her?  Yes, THAT Israel.

It’s outrageous, it’s absurd, and it’s why the United Nations needs to be kicked out of New York and sent packing to one of these Third World crap holes.  Maybe President Trump will get the job done.

We’d love to hear from you:

Donald Trump And Israel

Today, I am serving notice to the thousands of global followers of our Calling Out Community blog site and Twitter feed, that I am officially endorsing, and will be fully supporting through every avenue available, Mr. Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America.  And here’s why…

imageI have had the privilege in the last 2 years – since starting this blog on July 28, 2016 – to speak to some of my 7,000+ followers, now in 100 countries of the world – the largest two delegations being my beloved Canada (2,965) followed by the United States of America (2,065), with the third-largest group encompassing my 288 wonderful friends in the United Kingdom.

I’d like to believe that we have had success connecting with Americans because we share so many things: Canada and the United States are each other’s largest trading partner – over $660 billion a year! We share a common language, an equivalent legal and social order, common ancestry with Great Britain – we even share a continent, of course, including the largest international border in the world – over 8,891 kilometres (5,525 mi) long!  Eight Canadian provinces and territories (Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick), and thirteen U.S. states (Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine) are located along the border.

So without a doubt, we are interchangeably linked for life.  As a result, the Tuesday, November 8, 2016 U.S. presidential election has an impact on Canadians as well, and therefore dominates both the topics covered by my blog, as well as on the lives of thousands of its followers. As a result, I am going on record today to officially endorse Mr. Donald J. Trump as my choice for President of the United States of America.

trumpaipac-497x350Back on March 21, Donald Trump gave a landmark address at the AIPAC (America-Israel Public Affairs Committee) meetings in Washington, DC on the relationship of Israel and the United States – which I saw in its entirety today for the first time this morning.

(You can click to either WATCH the entire speech on YouTube, or READ the full transcript, courtesy of Time Magazine)

Mr. Trump pledged to rip up the Iranian nuclear deal, to force the Palestinians back to the bargaining table with Israel or face sanctions, and to rebuild the US relationship with its best friend and only democracy in the Middle East, the State of Israel.

The AIPAC later apologized for the speech – one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard of – because Mr Trump criticized Barack Obama from their stage, a sitting President, for his efforts against the Jewish State.

What made that apology even more bizarre was the fact that without a doubt, those comments had the biggest reaction from the crowd – a very spontaneous, very unexpected (even for Mr Trump) uproarious standing ovation that lasted several minutes.

Only one other statement garnered a standing ovation of the same magnitude – when Mr. Trump pledged that, when elected President, he would immediately begin preparations to move the American embassy to “the eternal city of Jerusalem”.

Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu – Pence “cherishes” Israel. (Credit: Office of the Prime Minister of Israel’s Google+ Page)

Mr. Trump’s pick for Vice President, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, is one of the greatest friends of Israel in the United States today. Earlier this year, he signed a bipartisan bill (passing 47 to 3) that would divest his state from local businesses that take part in the anti-Israel BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) movement. In other words, if a company was openly hostile toward Israel in its practices, the state would pull out of any investments it had in that company.

(Read more at http://www.thejewishweek.com/news/national/mike-pence-seen-having-strong-israel-record#Tq2kre9AZimiGx0x.99)

Based on what I’ve seen and heard of late, Mr. Trump has very strong support for Israel – the strongest I’ve heard from a Presidential candidate in decades – something which I consider to be the most important qualification for President today.

Any friend of Israel is a friend of ours.  Period.

It’s Official – “Boycott Israel” Flops!

I stumbled this morning across a Bloomberg article, published on Wednesday, June 1 – that seems to indicate, to my incredulity and joy, that the Boycott, Divest & Sanction (BDS) movement against Israel – started by Palestinians with the purpose of hindering or even destroying the economy of Israel – is not only losing steam globally – but in fact may have had the opposite desired impact.

According to this article, a deep look into the state of foreign investment in Israel suggests that the BDS movement to boycott Israel is failing.

BDS, founded in 2005 by a group of Palestinians and seen by many as an anti-Semitic effort to single Israel out for punishment, seeks to prevent investors from doing business in Israel.  And it seemed at first to be working, according to Bloomberg:

Physicist Stephen Hawking shunned a Jerusalem conference hosted by Israel’s president, singer Lauryn Hill canceled a Tel Aviv concert and a giant Dutch pension fund blacklisted five Israeli banks. All are signs that an international movement to isolate Israel is gaining ground.

However, in the very next paragraph, you can almost see the jaw dropping and hear the gasp of the Bloomberg writer, Sangwon Yoon:

Yet an examination of foreign capital flow into the country shows the opposite trend – a steep increase. Foreign investments in Israeli assets hit a record high last year of $285.12 billion, a near-tripling from 2005 when the so-called Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement was started by a group of Palestinians. (Emphasis mine)

Of course, the movement was weakly developed and initially founded with a series of very poorly considered realities:

  • It reeked of anti-Semitism and while many could have looked at individual situations and thought that Israel went to far here and there since its founding in 1948, to seek to compleetely obliterate their total economy to many was just too obvious in its end-goal.
  • It didn’t take into account the power of Israel’s allies.  Nations like Canada stepped up and created laws that outlawed the BDS movement within their borders.
  • It didn’t take into account the wealth of American Jews, who saw the movement from the beginning as an economic Holocaust, and refuses to let it happen again.  Well, some of them fell into the whole disgusting boycott – one wonders what on earth they are thinking by doing so?  Some day they may need Israel and will she still exist when they do?
  • It had far too many Palestinian victims.  We reported previously about the attacks made on carbonated beverage machine maker Sodastream – and how those stupid efforts resulted in over 600 Palestinians losing their good-paying jobs.  And when asked what their response to this was, a Palestinian Authority spokesman made it clear that collateral damage like this was acceptable.  The fallout from such a stupid statement was the unmasking of the true hatred and anti-Semitic foundation of this movement.

But the worst is not over.  We will not rest until BDS has been destroyed worldwide and the economy of the independent state of Israel, which has every right to exist on the world stage, can continue unabated.

Long Live Israel!

On March 12, 2011, 24-year old student Amram Hussain was invited to speak to the world leaders gathered for the 16th Human Rights Council of the United Nations General Assembly, the most prestigious and powerful international body for the supposed promotion of human rights in the world.

As the ambassador of the European Union of Jewish Students, Mr. Hussain gave a powerful and impassioned speech against the constant attacks of the Human Rights Council toward the State of Israel.

img_7939The remarks aren’t surprising coming from this organization.  The European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) is an umbrella organization for 34 national Jewish student unions in Europe, representing over 200,000 Jewish students.

Why this was so significant, however, is the fact that Mr. Hussain isn’t even Jewish.  In fact, he was born, raised and identifies himself …

… as a Muslim!

Here in its entirety, is one of the most powerful speeches in support of Israel ever uttered in the United Nations building in New York:

Thank you very much Mr. President.

I’m proud to be speaking today as the Ambassador of the Ruropean Union of Jewish Students, an umbrella organization representing over two hundred thousand students.

I stand before this Council as a Muslim, not to further demonize the nation of Israel but to remind you of the moral obligation we all have here today to protect the only country in the world whose very existence is constantly under attack.

I come here today to ask questions:  why is Israel consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation on the grounds of human rights violations yet the world turns a blind eye to the human rights situations within the rest of the Arab countries or some of the nations from the Far East or Northern Africa.

1930225412The world was very quick to condemn Israel for defending itself from Hamas’ unrelenting rockets and mortar attacks from Gaza.  I ask you what about the human rights of Israeli Jews, Israeli Muslims, Israeli Christians, living constantly in fear of attacks from Hamas.  Are their human rights not as important as the rest of the international community?

EUJS as a youth movement believes in tolerance and campaigns heavily on non-discrimination of all. We have taken a number of actions to fight Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism.

It is however a fact of history and it is a fact of our nature that we can choose to be between good and evil.  And let us not forget that even now there are those who will choose evil and would launch another Holocaust if left unchecked.

People like Ahmadinejad should not be encouraged by the Human Rights Council but halted from his anti-Israel agenda.

Israel-Apartheid-Week.jpgAs a consequence of decisions being made at this Council, Anti-Semitism has regained a place at our universities, where at times it is not the mob who are removed but the Jewish students under attack and under the shadow of a hateful ideology with global ambitions – one which targets the Jewish homeland as a scapegoat.

Of course, like any country Israel should be subjected to fair criticism and and like any free country Israel subjects itself to such criticism.  However when there are members of the international community present here today that do not even accept the existence of Israel, how will such a nation ever be subjected to fair criticism.

Finally, Mister President, I request the international community gathered here today to take on their solemn duty to protect and promote human dignity at home and abroad by defending the vulnerable and by challenging the aggressors.

I was honored to have been the representative of the European Union of Hewish Students at the Sixteenth Session of the Human Rights Council.  As a person of all faiths and strongly embedded in all three Abrahamic religions, I was proud to be a Jewish voice at this Council.  I am an active member of my university’s Jewish society and the British Union of Jewish Students.  It was therefore a privilege to take part in the student movement at an international level.

UNITED NATIONS- Unhuman Rights Council- where even USA refuses to sign WOMEN R EQUAL and children matter -education counts 4 allun-hrc-cartoon.jpgI am an active campaigner for human rights and justice all over the world.  However, I have always remained disheartened by the disproportionate and unfair focus of the Human Rights Council on Israel, the disregard to the rights to human dignity for Israelis and the ignorance showed to some of the worst human rights violators around the world.

I have spoken where I can via the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service and various other NGO’s and civil societies criticizing the Council for acting according to political considerations as opposed to human rights.

However, I have never been more concerned of the consequences of the Human Rights Council’s resolutions against Israel. As a result, we now see Anti-Semitism having a stronger voice at our universities.

It is for this reason i felt my voice was strongest represented from the largest Jewish student voice at the Human Rights Council. The EUJS campaigns for the non-discrimination of all and has lead the European student voice with its constituent members in addressing not only Jewish issues but issues affecting humanity as a whole.

Although I claim Judaism, Christianity and Islam as all my religions, I have been nutured as a Muslim all my life.  It was therefore an opportunity for me to support the EUJS’ progressive agenda in interfaith collaboration and strengthen its voice at this Council.

It was difficult to face such a biased audience at the Council. However I remain proud that I have joined your movement in protecting and promoting human dignity for the citizens of the nation whose very existence is persistently under attack.

Thank you very much. May the peace and blessings of God be with us all.

Facebook-Banner_NEW2_Quote_5-e1435534500342What a brave young man, and how disheartening it was to hear that in the 2015 British general election, when he ran as a Labour party candidate in North East Hampshire, that clearly some political enemies of Israel plotted against his campaign to ensure he didn’t get elected.

I really do hope that he will not give up on politics – it needs voices like his more than ever.

ISIS and Israel Showdown Looms

The United States and Russia may be hitting ISIS harder than anyone, with constant attacks from the air, but Israel is the only country the Islamic State group truly fears, according to a German reporter who spent 10 days with the organization in Iraq and Syria.

Jürgen Todenhöfer (Credit: http://www.warumtoetestduzaid.de/)

“The only country ISIS fears is Israel,” Jürgen Todenhöfer, 75, who visited the territory under the control of ISIS accompanied by his son, told British online news site Jewish News. “They told me they know the Israeli army is too strong for them.”

In 2014, Todenhöfer, a former member of the German Parliament from Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union, visited Syria and Iraq, becoming the first Western journalist to be allowed extensive access to  ISIS territory – and to return safely from the trip. He has since written the book “My 10 Days in the Islamic State“, published in 2015.

US airstrikes hit ISIS targets in Syria. (Credit: WN.com)

In a subsequent interview he explains that ISIL is a reaction to violent actions taken by western countries in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. “They think they can defeat U.S. and U.K. ground troops, who they say have no experience in city guerrilla or terrorist strategies. But they know the Israelis are very tough as far as fighting against guerrillas and terrorists,” Todenhöfer told Jewish News

At the same time, Israel does not seem to fear the same thing with ISIS.  Former head of IDF Intelligence Amos Yadlin on Wednesday expressed a contrarian opinion on the dangers of the terrorist group ISIS, responsible for the beheadings of  journalists, as well as thousands of “infidels” in Iraq and Syria who do not subscribe to their particular brand of Islam. According to Yadlin, there’s nothing to fear from ISIS.

Nor should they worry.  The Israeli Defense Forces is one of the most powerful militaries on earth – with 176,500 active soldiers, and a reserve force of 450,000 that can be called up at any moment, they dwarf the estimated military strength of ISIS (approx 20,000 fighters) by nearly 30 to 1.

But Israel’s secret strength is in its mandatory military service for all 18 year olds in the country, both male and female.  In fact, the 1.6 million females trained and fit for service gives Israel the greatest shoeing of female military might possibly in world history.

Mandatory conscription means that today, over 1/2 of Israel – more than 3 million people – have been actively trained and have served in the Israeli forces over the last 60+ years.

Then there’s the equipment – while ISIS apparently is in possession of a few tanks, Israel’s military equipment is vast: with over 3,700 tanks, 6,000 armoured personnel carriers, 1,200+ artillery pieces, 680 F15 and F16 fighter jets, over 50 naval ships and even 5 submarines, the legendary armies of Israel could even take on a military the size of America’s

Speaking at an Ashkelon College in September 2014, Yadlin said that despite the shocking videos the group released showing the beheadings of journalists Steve Sotloff and James Foley, “there is no real reason to fear. ISIS is very good at media relations, and using the media to frighten people. They murder their captives in a shocking manner in order to get media attention.”

The terrorist group may have been bolstered this week when Russia announced it was suspending their air strikes in Syria, declaring their mission a success.  Yet ISIS remains as strong as ever in the embattled country torn apart by a four-year Civil War, so clearly they were not Russia’s intended target. However, Russia “obliterated” a key ISIS base in Syria in October 2015 with a series of airstrikes, so they did have some supporting role to play in the conflict that can’t be denied.

President Vladimir Putin stated yesterday (Thursday, March 17) however that Russia could scale up its military presence in Syria again “within hours” and would still bomb terrorist groups there despite a partial draw-down of forces ordered after military successes.

However, it’s their definition of what constitutes a “terrorist” group that has some scratching their heads.  And though they continually state they are “bombing ISIS targets”, they aren’t in the right part of the country to be able to make that claim.

As ISIS and Israel move toward a showdown, stay tuned, this story is definitely not yet fully told, and we will bring it to you as it unfolds.

NPR Shows Integrity After Israel Map Gaffe

IsraelIsrael Is Forever: Special feature to the Calling Out Community, Posted January 28, 2016.

imageFollowing National Public Radio’s (NPR) online publication this week of an illustrative map – which erroneously deleted Israel and replaced its geographic region with the label “Palestine”-  NPR ombudsman Elizabeth Jensen quickly issued a statement explaining how the errors came to be, apologizing for the same on behalf of the 900-station radio network, and citing media watchdog HonestReporting’s role in fixing the situation:

“The map portion of the illustration had a number of mistakes, the most notable being that Israel was labeled as “Palestine.” There were other errors, as well, as an editor’s note details. After the online pro-Israel publication HonestReporting posted a report that focused on the exclusion of Israel, critical emails began coming in. NPR’s editors moved swiftly to remove the map Sunday evening, as they should have.

marc-silver-director-3-1-2-minutes“I asked Marc Silver, the blog’s editor, how the errors came about. He told me by email: “The artist doing the illustration for this post added the map element. It was one of many elements in his illustration depicting what world travelers perceive as potential risks when they are abroad. We should have carefully reviewed each map label for inaccuracies and omissions and failed to do so.”

content_size_KR_140627_Patric_Sandri_zzportrait“NPR has worked with the illustrator, Patric Sandri, once before and his portfolio includes work for The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and Bloomberg News, among others, Silver said. He added that Sandri used his own sources for the map but NPR takes “responsibility for these errors because of our failure to check the map carefully.”

“I heard back from an apologetic Sandri Tuesday. He said by email that, “it was not my political intention to draw the map that way at all,” calling it a mistake that happened because “I had a very short time for creating the illustration. If you work under time pressure mistakes can happen.” He added that he was surprised that the NPR staff did not catch the mistakes themselves, and said they should have double-checked, as well; “They approved everything and really liked the illustration. I only had to change small details.”

The Calling Out Community commends NPR and its ombudsman for showing excellence in customer care, as well as journalistic and editorial integrity in identifying the problem as important and acting swiftly to removing the offending map.  However, they even went a step above with their explanation today and we encourage all who were concerned to now thank NPR for an excellent job well done.

And we are eternally grateful to HonestReporting for once again standing up for Israel, even when it seems the whole world is against Her.  God will truly bless you for your efforts on behalf of His chosen people.

Israel Erased from NPR Map – Not THIS Again?

IsraelIsrael Is Forever: Special feature to the Calling Out Community, Posted January 25, 2016.

For a shocking second time in the last three months, yet another American news media organization, that definitely should have known better, has literally wiped Israel off of the map.

Founding logo

This time the guilty part was National Public Radio (NPR), the 45-year old “privately- and publicly-funded non-profit membership media organization that serves as a national syndicator to a network of 900 public radio stations in the United States”, according to its related Wikipedia article.

Media watchdog HonestReporting.com first reported the story earlier today (January 25) and immediately contacted NPR, after the following map of the Middle East was published on the NPR site:

npr240116HonestReporting noted that “Israel” is missing from the map, instead replaced geographically by something called “Palestine” – even though no state by that name has legally existed since 1948 – 67 years ago.

Our readers may recall that the self-named “Global News Leader” CNN committed the same ludicrous faux pas last year, replacing “Israelon its map with the bizarre “Palestina” – the Spanish-language translation of “Palestine”, made equally more bizarre by the fact that the rest of the map was in English.  Based on the English context, this Palestina was as imaginary as Narnia or Middle Earth – no nation has never existed by that name in human history.

cnn251115When CNN was approached by HonestReporting regarding that story, it made no efforts to apologize for the error, merely pulling the map and replacing it with a more appropriate graphic for its story about the Syrian Civil War – an event that Israel had not yet played any part in anyway.

The complete lack of journalistic integrity at CNN was starkly displayed –  they never spoke to the obvious outrage of thousands of their readers at the visual erasure of Israel, nor did we ever find out who intentionally deleted Israel from the Middle East or why.  Their site itself states that up to 9 pairs of eyes reviews everything before it goes up – that being the case, one has to suppose that CNN did this on purpose.

NPR logo in 2016

In this current incident with NPR, however, the broadcaster has taken responsibility in an Editor’s Note, at the beginning of the article:

Editor’s note: The original version of this post contained a map illustration intended to represent the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, which poll respondents identified as the region presenting the greatest risk to travelers and expatriates in 2016. The map had a number of errors. The countries of Cyprus, Israel and Turkey were either not shown or not labeled; the label for “Palestine” should have read “Palestinian Territories”; and Afghanistan and Pakistan were mistakenly included. NPR apologizes for these errors.

We are satisfied with the NPR response, and thank them for being so quick to remove the offensive map.  While we could question why some in the news media don’t seem to know Israel exists today, for now we can assume that the unending media war against the State of Israel has no correlation with this story.

What I DON’T Think About Israel – Part 3

IsraelIsrael Is Forever: Special feature to the Calling Out Community, Posted January 20, 2016.

Let’s get real for a moment – my personal views on Israel have no correlation to the following statement:

Jews Are NOT “Christ-Killers”
Theologically and practically, the Jews did not kill Jesus.

holocaust-2-728However, let me hit the nail on the head a little harder – to believe otherwise is just plain ideological. Nah, let’s really show our cards – anyone who claims to be a student of theology or history is actually just a plain old STUPID anti-Semitic racist to call the Jews “Christ-killers”.

First of all, friends, Jesus died of his own free will.  You cannot kill God even if He was also 100% man.  The Bible says Jesus “gave up the ghost” (John 19:30, King James Version). No one took his life from Him, He gave it up because He loved us. Full-stop. Period.

Who%20killed%20JesusTheologically, to be blunt: it was your sin and mine that nailed Him there – that had Him agonize there. YOU put Him there. MY SIN made him writhe around in pain there.  And He could have called even 10,000 angels to deliver Him had He felt that necessary or desired – in fact Revelation 5:11 says there are at least “10,000 times 10,000” – or 100 million angels – that still reside in Heaven.  No one had Jesus “over a barrel”.

He died on purpose, after being betrayed by one follower (Judas) and denied 3 times by another (Peter) – yes, both being Jews. But this latter Jew, Jesus said, was going to be THE leader that built His Church and even Hell itself wouldn’t/couldn’t stand in Peter’s way. So pretty tough to argue theologically that the Jews killed Jesus, or that their involvement in his death somehow disqualified them from His interest. Jesus, after all, named a Jew as the Head of the early Church.

bb7288ca996911e090db12313b10052d_smallPolitically and practically, again let’s get real – the Jews of the day had no political, judicial or military power. They could not have put Jesus to death if they had wanted to – they had no legal or judicial authority. If they had, it’s pretty likely they wouldn’t have brought him before a clearly unconvinced (and possibly irritated) Pontius Pilate, the Roman prefect of the equally Roman province of Judea, in the middle of the night to get his ruling. The Jews hated the Romans more than they ever did Jesus.

May I also remind you that Roman nails were pounded into Jesus’ hands and feet – as if the conquering Romans would be caught dead using inferior “local” supplies. It was also a Roman spear that was thrust in Jesus’ side, and hours before, 39 Roman whiplashes with a Roman cat-o-nine-tails that ripped his back to shreds (40 was the death penalty).

A deeply-injuring crown made of 6″ thorns was crafted by Roman hands and pushed deeply into His head by mocking Roman soldiers.  Roman soldiers also punched him, ripped out his beard, sold his clothes and gave him vinegar to drink when He was thirsty.  And the form of execution used was called crucifixion, a solely Roman invention.

afterlife9Yes, Jewish leaders called for Him to die, but the whole city at that time had turned against Him – many would have been from other cultures and races as well. And at the point of his death – the only people left to witness it were two Jewish women. Jewish believers in Jesus took Him down before Sabbath, wrapped Him in burial robes and had Him buried in the “borrowed” tomb of Joseph of Arimethea.

Borrowed…a grave? Why? Did these Jewish followers of Jesus maybe believe that He wasn’t going to need it for long?

Let’s also not forget – two Jewish women (Jesus’ mom and Mary Magdalene) were the first visitors to Jesus’ tomb, and those same two Jewish ladies were the first to be given the angel Gabriel’s earth-shaking news that “He is not here, He is risen“.  Jesus then appeared at once to as many as 500 people after His resurrection – all Jews – who had chosen to follow Him.

tumblr_lyjy7eP91X1r77mw4o1_500So friend, with all due respect, regardless of your personal beliefs about Israel or the Jews today, the whole “Christ-killer” insult just makes you look like a raging pinhead. You and I killed Him. He came because “all have sinned and come short if the glory of God”. To summarize: Jesus (himself a Jew by both race and religion growing up) died, not merely at the hands of one race – but for the sins of all of them.

Today, even most non-hostile or even “supportive” Christian pulpits barely speak about Israel – it’s like She doesn’t really exist, or their pastors are embarrassed by Her or don’t hold much credence or importance to her value to the Church or the world. Well, I am afraid I probably wont agree with most of these pastors on the topic of Israel, so their silence on the subject doesn’t remote concern me – I doubt I’d ever be caught dead in most of those churches anyway.  So don’t bother inviting me.

You see, in the midst of everything I have just said about what I do not believe or think about Israel, and in the midst of all that negative press that Israel gets today…

6cf67362aa33640ceb4fca433e039d05…When I hear the name ‘Israel’ in the news, my heart jumps a bit, because they are talking about my best friend . OH WAIT, you assumed that because I was not a “fan” or “supporter” of Israel that I didn’t like her? Ah yes, easy conclusion to come to in this day and age – if you are also a deranged, looney leftwing jackass. You might want to go back and read it all again, because this Prairie boy from Canada, that never met a Jew until he was about 38 years old and has never been to Israel, is absolutely, unquestionably, madly, insanely, totally and devotely IN LOVE WITH ISRAEL AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE.

Those closest to me have learned quickly that to ignorantly (or intentionally) bad-mouth Israel’s actions, intentions, motivations and character in my presence and/or in my home is the best way I can think of to be shown the door. Yes, I have quite literally and actually thrown a person out of my home for continuously berating Israel.  In my defence he was warned. I have even thrown half-eaten carrots at the TV when CNN smeared Her name in the mud with lies and endless stupidity.

netanyahu-obamaI have referred to President Barack Obama often by the moniker “that idiot” when he felt it more important to be buddies with the imperialist Islamic Republic of Iran than with our best friend, the State of Israel.  And when he said he was “the closest thing to a Jew” that the White House had ever seen, after he had just snubbed the Israeli Prime Minister’s recent historic speech to Congress, I unloaded both barrels in this blog about it. No sir, “Osama bin Obama”, how dare you mock my beloved Israel and her Prime Minister Netanyahu – who’s IQ is double your own. You are a ridiculous fraud that brings shame to your office.

All the more reason why I felt it necessary to write this post today – and make no apologies for the fact that I am totally, singularly, openly, completely, eternally, logically, spiritually, emotionally and intellectually IN LOVE WITH Israel, the Jewish people and the Jewish state itself.

this_land_is_my_land_croppedWhen I was a child I had a similar love for the mythical land of “Narnia” and it’s lion leader “Aslan” from C.S. Lewis’ the Chronicles of Narnia. Narnia and Israel share a similar allegorical foundation for the Christian believer – they both represent the spiritual Kingdom of God, the Church and/or Body of Jesus Christ.  The difference being, of course, that Israel actually exists.

From those allegories, I’ve learned that, from God’s perspective, it’s Ok to be in love with Israel – because GOD IS IN LOVE WITH HER TOO. My love for Israel has grown incredibly deep over the last 5 years particularly – and the last 18 months specifically – solely independent of any outside voices or influences in my life.   I have merely been paying attention to Israel Herself, and her actions, and She has won my heart.

I’ll even go so far as to throw out this radical statement – I would not think twice about taking up actual arms and going to war for Her, should Her survival ever be threatened. I cannot imagine a more noble death than dying to protect Her freedom and ensure Her survival.

I am not ashamed to confess it. I have logically thought through my thoughts and feelings. I have not been whipped up by the evangelical fervor of some travelling “flavor of the week” TV evangelist road show. Israel has shown Her own true character in bits and pieces through various means, and I began collecting them. Now I have gathered together these reasons why the Jewish people and the State of Israel are so critically important to me into a 4th posting in this series, Why I Am MADLY IN LOVE With Israel. I hope and pray you will open your heart and mind to Her – let Her show you who She is, and you will grow to love Her too.

SHARE-if-you-are-not-ashamed-to-tell-your-friends-YOU-LOVE-ISRAEL-The world grows more hostile toward Israel everyday and I grow more defensive of Her and protective of Her daily as well. The previous generation did not stand up in the defence of the Jewish race, partly due to fear, partly due to an innocent belief that such a horror was not possible, and partly due to being an active participant in the atrocities of the Holocaust. In 2015, we are under no such illusions. Evil exists when good and decent folks do nothing.

I refuse to make that my epitaph. I will not allow future generations to say that about me. I will give the remainder of my life to defend Her, love Her, support Her, encourage Her and as needed, protect Her and die for Her if necessary.  I know that million of Christians have had the same love affair with Her. I’m not jealous, I’m happy to brag Her up in hopes YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH HER TOO. This is a sovereign move of God as He shows the world that She is still the Apple of His eye and the timepiece of history. Open your heart. Pay attention. She will speak to you to you too.

What I DON’T Think About Israel – Part 2

IsraelIsrael Is Forever:
Special feature to the Calling Out Community, Posted January 19, 2016.

(From Part 1):

Along with all the nonsense in the media today about Israel, there are some pretty fundamental beliefs about Israel and the Jews that I hear from major Christian pulpits as well – even sometimes from Jews themselves – and I just do not, will not or can not agree with some of it.

I’ve decided that it’s time to set the record straight. No more grey areas – I want everyone to know exactly where I stand, and to stop propagating some of the “phony baloney” I hear all the time.

Warning: many will find this to be highly controversial. However, please read right through to the end, as I believe it will put things into proper perspective for you. I might even win some of you over along the way.

slide-march-christians-640x341Christian Flakes and Israel

Of course I would like this posting to find camaraderie or kinship with at least some of my readership today, but my opinion won’t be swayed even if everyone that reads this posting sends comments through WordPress (or notes written in red Crayon or fashioned with the cut-out words from 20 magazines) to call me an idiot, an opportunist, brain-washed, uneducated or deceived.  You will not be able to ridicule or shame me into changing my mind, so don’t expend the energy trying.

I will start by first saying that I do not merely like Israel.  I do not just “appreciate” Israel. I am not only “friendly toward” Israel. I do not have a “healthy respect” for Israel. I do not simply “stand with” Israel, nor do I feel I can categorize it as “support” for Her, as some better Christians than I innocently state. I do not even “follow Israel with interest” in the media.

d745da141c99679903d142f8050f05c9I also do not cling to the Biblical passage that tells us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6).  In my opinion, that’s a pretty myopic, narrow-minded viewpoint. In fact, when people tell me that, I’m suspicious of their motives, as it sounds more like they are doing the absolute bare minimum possible in order to obey God without actually having to LIKE it.

Jerusalem is without a doubt Israel. But Israel is much more than Jerusalem. And if one were to pray for someone they cared about – dare I say, that they loved – would they really stop at praying just for her peace? Would a fan or supporter of Israel not believe that prayer for the following things for Her would also be wise, if they have watched even the smallest amount of media coverage about Her:

keep-calm-and-pray-for-israel-15protection, comfort, wisdom, physical health, government and leaders, success, strength, victory over her enemies, deliverance from fear and worry, military self-control, wisdom in finances, entrepreneurial spirit, inventive mindset, favorable harvests, influence and favor amongst other nations, and protection from the schemes and devices of evil people

…to name a few items.

Yah, there’s a lot more that Israel needs you to bring before God than just Her peace – though that would be great and very welcome sight as well. However, I believe She can’t really have peace as long as the other items I’ve mentioned are threatened – so perhaps the Psalmist was actually asking a lot more from the believer than it seems on the surface, and/or more than some believers are willing to do?

resized_butthurt-dweller-meme-generator-weather-getting-colder-zionist-conspiracy-e2016eThis is why I am not some “fan” of Israel – because I see the high price that needs to be paid for stating support of Her.  I have not been influenced by Christian bumper sticker theology, nor am I part of some radicalized right-wing political rallying cry for Her. I am not a schemer or puppet of some global Zionist conspiracy to conquer the world, nor unwillingly or unknowingly a mouthpiece for some Semitic propaganda. I am not a Messianic Jew. I have never yet even visited Israel, though I would practically give my right arm to do so.

I had no Jewish friends growing up, and though I’ve had some in my various careers, I currently have none today. I attend a very large surburban Christian evangelical church (Canada’s second largest) with a weekly attendance of over 4,500 – and I have no idea what their official position is on Israel, because it’s never vocalized.  I receive no financial compensation of any kind from any Jews anywhere for any reason.

I was not “brainwashed” to love Israel by my parents as a child either. They taught us that Israel was the “Apple of God’s eye” and we always were taught to appreciate and respect the Jewish people, but they never pushed an overly aggressive belief system regarding the Jewish state in my home. In fact, I do not believe I even met a Jew or socialized with one in any capacity until I was in my mid-30s – long after most personal philosophies about the world are long since cemented into our characters.

enough-lies-about-israelI have been a news junkie since CNN first gave us the 24-hour talking head back in the 1980s, and all I hear is that Israel is a bully, a war criminal, a sadistic invader of its neighbours and brutal oppressor of the Palestinian people. I have even heard some mainline Christian churches expound the same belief.  So clearly, were I to become a cheerleader for Israel, I would be swimming hard and fast upstream. It certainly would not be criticized as jumping on some popular bandwagon or doing the politically correct (PC) thing, nor is this some fad or phase, or some “movement” or group I have recently joined.

There were even non-denominational charismatic churches I attended as a young adult who preached a form of “replacement theology” – that Israel’s position with God has been usurped or replaced by the Body of Christ – some going as far as to say that Jews’ rejection of Jesus as Messiah has put them into some divine “dog house”.  I’ve even heard some make the suggestion that the Jews were “Christ-killers”.

Let me say flat out that this theology is erroneous at best, stating from a theological perspective, and evil at worst. I know what I’m talking about, having graduated with honours after 5 years of full-time study with a Bachelor of Theology and a Bachelor of Education.  And I’ll counter that by stating categorically that I believe my viewpoint in Israel would be considered perhaps extreme by even some of my professors – and though they were quite influential in my life, I can say without hesitation that not one of them has led me to believe as I do about Israel today. In fact, I’m confident that I would make some of them at this very conservative evangelical College located within Canada’s “Bible Belt” very uncomfortable. And I’m totally OK WITH THAT.

The Old City of Jerusalem
The Old City of Jerusalem

The older I get, the more opinionated I become about the State and people of Israel. They are unlike any other people group, nation, race, or religion that exists today, or that has ever existed.

You likely don’t know where Botswana is on a map, nor frankly care. You couldn’t name two unique things about the Honduran people, and if you were totally honest, you would need a Google Search to tell me what language is predominant in Zimbabwe. Fair enough.

But if I say “Jew” and “Israel” – you instantly know who I am talking about, where they are located, what language they speak, what their houses of worship are called, who their Prime Minister is, what their currency is, the name of their holiest book, the name of their largest cities, what kind of climate they live in, one or two of their most famous kings or historical figures of the past.

Can you say the same about Switzerland? Kenya? Malaysia? Uruguay? Likely not. And there is likely no other country in history that is loved by more people and that registers a stronger connection with people that have never even visited it than the State of Israel.

55379440At the same time, everyone can come up with at least one negative news item regarding Israel that they have seen or heard reported and repeated by the mainstream media. And there has never been a single people group or nation that has been despised by more people around the world than the Jewish people and Israel. It is undoubtedly the only group on earth that has been targeted for eradication and the only race of people which has words related to both discrimination against them, and eradication of them:

an-tee-sem-i-tiz-uh m, an-tahy-sem-i-tiz-uh m] noun.
Discrimination against or prejudice or hostility toward Jews.

(hol-uh-kawst, hoh-luhkawst)
(usually initial capital letter) the systematic mass slaughter of European Jews in Nazi concentration camps during World War II (usually preceded by the).

Jews Are Not Taking Over The World!

Let me be clear – the Jewish people are not reviled because of the actions of, the government of, the military of, or even as a result of the founding of the State of Israel. I and many other supporters of Israel will say with certainty that public disapproval with Israel exists because it is connected to the Jews, not the other way around.

I truly believe if there were no Israel, there would no less anti-Semitism in the world. The protection that Israel affords the Jews today would not be there in other nations, including in the United States. With no Israel, there would likely be a lot fewer Jewish people in the world. And we would all be the poorer because of it.

35c957bd9da29f3a420e5bf87abc1b561d590e8450e2e005fd3f1a271ee40539It’s no small feat for Israel to be in the media spotlight constantly today, yet the reasons for it spouted by the anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist lot make no sense.  The number of Jews in the world is less both in number and in % overall of population than at any time in modern history.  The Jews for decades have been evilly, erroneously and eternally blamed for the world’s ills.  It’s why the Holocaust happened in the first place, though it made no more sense back then than it does to us today.

  • Yet there are still a lot of seriously whacked-out folks who think the Jews plan to conquer the world, or already have.  Yet according to the American Jewish Yearbook:
  • In 1939, the global Jewish population was 16.18 million. In 1950, it was 11.5 million.  In 2008, it was 13.1 million.   That means that there are 3 million Jews less in the world today than there were 70 years ago.
  •  The Jewish population in Europe was about 9.5 million in 1933. In 1950, the Jewish population of Europe was about 3.5 million. Why?  Because 65% of all the Jews in Europe were murdered in the Holocaust.
  • The largest Jewish population in all of Europe was found in Poland in 1939.  However, by 1945, only 10% of Polish Jews were still alive.
  • Today there are more Jews in the United States than in Israel.  Yet, the population of Jews in the United States only grew by 500,000 people in 70 years, while the population of the United States overall grew from 132 million in 1940 to 308.7 million in 2010 (over 176.7 million people),  This means that the percentage of Jews in the population went from 3% in 1939, to 0.17% today.  That doesn’t seem like a very logical or likely percentage of conquerors.
  • It took nearly 70 years, until 2013, for the population of Israel (6.1 million) to equal the number of Jews who died in the Holocaust (6 million)
  • Only 2 countries contain over 85% of the world’s Jews  the United States and Israel.  And of those, 80% live in just 8 cities in the United States and 2 cities in Israel.  Again, that global conspiracy just doesn’t hold water.
  • In 1948, the population of Jews in Israel was 716,700, which grew to 6.1 million in 2014, a growth of 850%.  However, Arabs only had a population of 156,000 in 1948, growing to 2.48 million in 2014, a growth of 1,589%

(As an aside:  How could Palestinians have claimed Israel as their own land in 1948, when they only had 21% of the population of Israel at that time,?  How can Palestinians state that they currently have a Holocaust under Jewish rule, when they have grown nearly 16 times larger in population since 1948?  Today, they still represent less than 1/3 of Israel’s population.)

57456087Along with all the nonsense in the media today about Israel, there are some pretty fundamental beliefs about Israel and the Jews that I hear from major Christian pulpits as well – even sometimes from Jews themselvesand I just do not, will not or can not agree with some of it.

As for everyone else – you will not convince me, nor be given a platform to convince any of my followers, that Israel is anything but hat I’ve already stated.  Comments are moderated and offensive ones will be deleted.

Just saying – this blog is not a democracy, you do not necessarily enjoy freedom of speech here, nor am I obligated to provide a soapbox for neo-Nazi or anti-Semitic wingnut filth.

Benjamin Netanyahu Voted #1 World Leader

IsraelIsrael Is Forever: Special feature to the Calling Out Community, Posted December 9, 2015.

IMG_4044Evangelical website Christian Today recently released survey results from the Washington-based Brookings Institute, which revealed that more evangelical Christians consider Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, as the #1 world leader of our modern era (16% of respondents) than any other.  11% percent named Ronald Reagan, and 10% named Barack Obama.

The research showed the political polarity even within the Christian community,  with only 1% of Democrat voters naming Netanyahu as the top world leader.

IMG_4047While Republicans overall have much more favourable views of Netanyahu than unfavourable ones, Democrats have a more unfavorable view of the Israeli leader by a ratio of about two to one. In general, older Americans admire the Israeli leader far more than the younger ones,” the research stated.

Netanyahu is known as a hardline champion for the defense of Israel and the Jewish people.  In the upcoming 2016 U.S. presidential election, a candidate’s support of Israel is already seen as an important issue for voters.

Shockingly, however, the survey also demonstrated that only 45% of Christians believe the Jews are God’s chosen people, while 49% do not believe they are God’s chosen people.

It is the strongly-expressed opinion of the Calling Out Community that the nation of Israel has a right to exist and defend itself, the Jews are God’s chosen people as much today as at any time in history.

We agree that Prime Minister Netanyahu is one of the great leaders of our age, with a strong intellect, commanding presence as he petitions on the world stage for his people – and it is to our advantage to be aligned with God’s chosen people in these last days.

Congratulations Mr. Netanyahu.  You are a hero to millions – this Canadian evangelical Christian writer included.

66 years ago this week (January 23, 1950), by a vote of 60-2, the Jewish Knesset (Parliament) declared Jerusalem to be the capital city of Israel, with the following proclamation:

“Whereas with establishment of the state of Israel, Jerusalem once more becomes the capital; Whereas practical difficulties which caused the Knesset and government institutions to be temporarily housed elsewhere have now for the most part been removed and the government is carrying out the transfer of its institutions to Jerusalem; The Knesset expresses the wish that construction of the seat of the government and Knesset in Jerusalem proceed speedily on the site allotted by the government for this purpose.”

For nearly all of the 65+ years since that declaration, the Western news media and the Islamic world have tried to convince the world that Jews are relatively recent interlopers, conquerors, invaders, usurpers, annexers, occupiers and thieves of the city of Jerusalem from its rightful owners, the Arab race.

Dr. Eilat Mazar’s 2013 discovery of a 3000-year old piece of inscribed pottery
Nothing could be further from the truth. Science Daily in fact reported today that the Ophel excavations at the foot of the southern wall of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, conducted by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Institute of Archaeology under the direction of Dr. Eilat Mazar, have unearthed an impression of the royal seal of King Hezekiah (727-698 BCE) of Israel.

The oval impression, imprinted on a soft piece of inscribed clay called a bulla, bears an inscription in ancient Hebrew script: “Belonging to Hezekiah [son of] Ahaz king of Judah,” and a two-winged sun, with wings turned downward, flanked by two ankh symbols symbolizing life.

The bulla was discovered in a garbage dump dated to the time of King Hezekiah or shortly after, and originated in the Royal Building that stood next to it.

A dump site is the last place you would expect to find an 8th century B.C. seal for a papyrus document signed by one of the kings of Judah.  Perhaps that’s why it has taken 2,700 years for the piece of clay inscribed with King Hezekiah’s seal to be discovered in Jerusalem.

Why does it matter?  This is the first seal impression of an Israelite or Judean king to come to light in a scientific archaeological excavation.  The find once again brings yet more evidence that, nearly 2,6000 years ago, the city was controlled by a Jewish King.

It brings to life the Biblical narratives about Hezekiah and activity in Jerusalem’s Royal Quarter in the First Temple Period – and that story is very important, as the Bible speaks very highly of King Hezekiah:

“There was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those before him” (II Kings 18:5)

As soon as Hezekiah had ascended to the throne, he dedicated himself to a complete reversal of the policies of his father. He not only destroyed the numerous idols which disgraced his kingdom, but he also cut down the groves of idolatry which had been spared even by some of his pious predecessors. This and many similar acts helped Hezekiah succeed in his untiring efforts to eliminate idolatry to a degree which even his pious ancestors Asa and Jehoshaphat had never attained.

This historical find demonstrates that the Jews didn’t just show up in Israel in 1948 – there have been Jewish people and a Jewish presence in Jerusalem for over 3,000 years.

And what a tremendous history it is.

CNN Wipes Israel Off the Map – Literally

IsraelIsrael Is Forever: Special feature to the Calling Out Community, Posted November 25, 2015.

The Media Party. Big Media. The “news media”. Network news. We all have a  favorite moniker for these bastions of global information, these titans of “journalistic excellence”, these… quacks at times who couldn’t tell the truth or get the story right if there was a gun to their collective heads.

No matter whether you are Left or Right wing politically – or one of those rare breed who have successfully clipped those wings in favor of true independent thought – you have likely noted either with joy or frustration one simple fact. Almost down to a station-by-station confirmation…

Nearly all of them despise Israel.

There are notable exceptions of course – Fox News Network in the United States and The Rebel Media in Canada tend to have a more balanced and dare I say even progressive view of Israel.

As for the remaining motley crew of media hacks, they aren’t actually going to tell you that they can’t stand Israel, as they still have to show a measure of political correctness (though even PC thought favours Antisemitism hands-down).  Often they speak with passive-aggressive finger-shaking disdain for Israel and the Jews.  And sometimes, they show their disgust as much by what they don’t say as what they do.

Media bias toward Israel
Media bias toward Israel

An excellent article on this subject was published in the November 30, 2014 issue of The Atlantic, entitled “What the Media Gets Wrong About Israel“.  I strongly encourage every thinking person, and every supporter of Israel, to read this article.  In it, journalist Matti Friedman opens with a powerful observation:

During the Gaza war this summer, it became clear that one of the most important aspects of the media-saturated conflict between Jews and Arabs is also the least covered: the press itself. The Western press has become less an observer of this conflict than an actor in it, a role with consequences for the millions of people trying to comprehend current events, including policymakers who depend on journalistic accounts to understand a region where they consistently seek, and fail, to productively intervene.

One dictionary states that “journalism” is:

The activity or profession of writing for newspapers or magazines or of broadcasting news on radio or television.

Perhaps journalists have gone astray by the definition of what constitutes “news”.  Walter Cronkite would not have done a piece about Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s baby – it just wouldn’t have happened.  And when reporting the news from the battlefront, his calibre of reporter would not have felt it necessary to tell us how his vehicle was shot at by armed militants in the conflict, when nothing was further from the truth.  The story itself was captivating enough – we don’t need our journalists to actually be actors on the stage.  Thanks for that punch in our trust gut, Brian Williams.

There are times, however, when Big Media steps so over the line into the Twilight Zone that everyone, no matter their political persuasion, is left saying “what the _____?”

cnn251115Such is the case with mighty CNN, the self-described on their current advertising sales sheet “World’s News Leader”, who this week visibly and legibly manifested proof of a deep-seated hostility toward Israel.  Quite simply, in a nutshell – they removed Israel from the map (above).  Literally.

In a recent article about airstrikes being carried out over Syria today in the conflict there, a map of the region was published, showing the major cities the area.  All of the other nations in the region show the name of a city and it’s capital (Beirut, Lebanon; Amman, Jordan, etc.) and Jerusalem is shown representing Israel (though Tel Aviv is the capital).  No problem – many of us believe Jerusalem is the true capital of Israel.

But wait, what’s this?  The nation of modern Israel, now nearly 7 decades old with further 3,000 years of continuous Jewish presence in the region, is not mentioned on the map.  What does appear, however, is some place called “Palestina” – a Spanish or Portuguese variation of “Palestine”.

That is the only name on the map that doesn’t seem to be in English, so it completely out of place – not to mention the fact that “Palestine” hasn’t actually appeared on a map in, oh…..67 years.  Last time I checked, Palestina was real as Narnia, Mordor and Neverland.

Cair Paravel, the royal palace of Narnia - which like Palestina is also imaginary
Cair Paravel, the royal palace of Narnia – which like Palestina is also imaginary

Now, this was not just some printing error or a mistaken use of an old map.  THERE ARE NO DIGITAL MAPS that would have the name of a fictional country named Palestina on them.  Like ZERO out there.  And let’s not forget, this is the world’s news leader, according to their own press – with 45 news bureaus around the world.

Their self-hosted Inside CNN webpage, designed for teachers and students, has a very revealing FAQ:

Q: What kinds of checks and balances does CNN use to make sure the stories are accurate?

A: An average story is said to go through nine sets of eyes before making air. It is also the job of copy editors to proofread stories for grammatical and factual errors. News is verified three times from three different sources before it is broadcast on our air. (Emphasis mine)

So one must therefore conclude that Israel was deleted and Palestina was added in its place – on purpose?

Outrageous right?  Well, HonestReporting reporters contacted CNN about the error, as did likely thousands of people.  Their response?  No “oops sorry”.  They just removed the map and put up a photo of airstrikes in Syria in its place – which is actually what the story was about in the first place.

In relation to the story on the Syrian Civil War, no political spin about Israel was necessary – they are not even militarily present in Syria in the battle against ISIS.

This is just bizarre.  It reminds me of three things:

Disney really wants you to remember who makes this movie, and get that logo embedded in your mind as much as possible.
Disney really wants you to remember who makes this movie, and get that logo embedded in your mind as much as possible.

Advertisers have used images for years that subliminally catch your mind but not necessarily consciously – the message might be received, but you wouldn’t even realize it at the time

Perhaps you’ve played a video game or DVD that had a hidden bit of information that could only be accessed if you did certain things with the remote control or played a certain level a certain way.  Usually it was the signature of the game designer – like video graffiti – called an Easter eggs?  Was that what this was?

GermaniaI watched a documentary recently about Adolf Hitler and his architect Albert Speer who had grand plans for a world empire with its headquarters in the old city of Berlin, which would be redeveloped and renamed Germania.  Their plans were both genius and insane (and even architecturally impossible), but they definitely thought that a new can of paint and a new name would somehow take away the international disdain for Berlin as a world capital.  They were pretty much dead wrong.  Now they’re just dead, and their plans along with them.

Some ideas, like blatant Antisemitism and the groups propagating it, just never die.
