The Faking of Middle East News

Occasionally a photo or video will come along that goes viral, captures the hearts or imaginations of the people, who in turn influence their respective governments, and real, positive change is made that changes the world for the better.

This story is about 3 such photos that all meet those qualifiers – all iconic in their¬†own¬†rights – but¬†all¬†3 share a dirty little secret.¬† To be sure, the Middle Eastern events they portrayed shook us, made us cry, changed our lives and the policies of many of our nations…¬†

…and yet NONE of them¬†ever¬†actually happened.

You’ve likely seen it before: An IDF soldier aiming his rifle at a Palestinian’s head. No context is given ‚Äď is the soldier about to execute the Palestinian at point-blank range? ¬†The photo spreads via Facebook, reinforcing the (false) narrative of “Israeli aggression against Palestinian victims.”

However, this event never happened.¬† The latest charade in ‘Pallywood’ ‚Äď a cottage industry dedicated to producing Palestinian propaganda ‚Äď is now circulating on Facebook, showing “an Israeli rifle butt digging into a young Palestinian’s neck.”

Thankfully, Roi Rahmani, an alert media monitor, discovered another photo, this one showing the two Palestinian actors,¬†appearing in a friendly selfie. ¬†The entire story was later covered on Israel’s Channel 2 news.

THE Burning Egyptian

(WARNING: graphic image.  Viewer discretion advised)

The following screenshot, published by Ahmed Mansour, a famed anchor on the Arabic Al Jazeera claimed that the following image is one of a Muslim Brotherhood supporter, being burned alive by the Egyptian Military – the narrative being that the current Egyptian government is putting ‘victim’ Brotherhood supporters to death.

The Brotherhood, under the leadership of President Morsi, were the government of Egypt from 2012-2013.  The organisation, founded in 1928, has a presence in governments around the world Рbut as of 2015 is considered a terrorist organisation by the governments of Bahrain, Egypt, Russia, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.  Not really the type one would get sympathy for.

aljazeera-channel-forge-news-and-images-about-what-is-going-on-in-egypt-300x167

If you search on the internet to check the truth about that image, you will find out that the original image is of a 2008 South African protester, who tragically set HIMSELF on fire.  This was a very embarrassing revelation to Al Jazeera viewers, costing huge credibility in Egypt and beyond.

The Drowning Refugees

img_0300

A photo of refugees floating in life jackets, looking for help has been portrayed all over the media as indicative of the plight that Middle Eastern refugees endure every day.  on its own, it paints a grim picture of the risks that these refugees take, often with little kids with them in tow.

ONE SMALL PROBLEM – an uncropped version of the picture has surfaced, proving the photograph was selectively edited to persuade Americans into allowing open borders for refugees and to further liberal agenda.

(Credit: Bare Naked Islam)

The full image, provided by Bare Naked Islam, showed a group of young men standing about seven feet from the crisis.¬† The ‚Äėtreacherous sea‚Äô is 2 feet deep at most. Surprisingly, the media did not add a shark fin into the photo.

What we can learn

The first, and most important thing that we can take away from the story is that all consumers of news (whether we read it in the paper,¬†¬†watch it on TV, or listen to it on the radio) have a responsibility to not pass it on until we¬†know it’s actually accurate.

Reporting.
(Credit: Jantoo Cartoons)

So many times I have friends come up to me and tell me a new story that they read online or seen on television that was just so ridiculously fake and so stupid, I able to shoot holes in the story right away…with simple logic or facts they couldn’t dispute. ¬†So many people out there are gullible and naive followers of whatever comes their way – they don’t know what’s true and what’s not.

And some¬†don’t even care. They’re looking¬†for a biased opinion that meets their views – and whether it’s accurate or not is irrelevant. ¬†It could be a¬†ridiculous myth – that’s the battle we fight today in looking for truth.

I don’t care whether you’re a conservative or liberal, I think that any time a news media source that you rely on has shown an obvious bias towards your particular views or those of the opposition, they should be ignored.

And¬†sadly, that doesn’t leave many trusted options. ¬†Right wingers should not be relying on right wing news from Breitbart or Fox News to tell us the truth in every situation. Left wingers should not be relying on CNN or¬†the mainstream media to tell them the truth. It behoves us to find the actual stories ourselves, often buried within the hyperbole and biased nonsense from both sides. ¬†The “no man’s land” between left and right sources is often the truth of the story.

(Credit: DaveGranlund.com)

We are not better informed about the particular issues of the day by listening to only the sources that we agree with. The only time that we will really learn anything about the world around us, and our response to it, is to watch both sides of a story.

One of¬†the best little¬†tools that I’ve ever found to help me know whether a certain online story is accurate or not is a¬†website called¬†TinEye.

You find a photo with an entire story developed around it, and you aren’t really sure you believe it. ¬†Save the photo in question to your¬†device and then upload it to TinEye – and in seconds it will tell you¬†when this photo first appeared on the Net, who the sources were – and you can then click those links and see if the original sources have now disappeared. ¬†It will also show you¬†whether it has been doctored in the meantime.

It was with TinEye that I actually discovered that the drowning refugees’ story was based on a doctored photo – they had merely cropped it down and told a tale based on what was left. ¬†TinEye’s technology somehow analyses the pixels in one photo, runs it against its 17 billion image database, and comes back and says “here are the photos that most closely resemble it” – which is amazing because it almost always finds many sources for the same pic – but¬†cropped, recolored, etc.

You¬†can then click on the original sources of the photo – and may then learn that this “battle in Ukraine” today was actually a photo from Russia 10 years ago.¬†¬†Or a photo depicting¬†something you are told has “just happened” may, in fact, have first appeared online years ago.

maxresdefault-2When fake news uses an image to tell a story it was never meant to tell, it costs the actual photographer or image owner, in reputation, etc.  They might not have intended for this photo to tell this story, and being connected to it could result in them being punished by their customers, with bad publicity, etc.

As Allen Murabayashi states in his excellent January 2017 article for Petapixel.com, The Problem of Fake Photos in Fake News:

Of course, the purveyors of today‚Äôs fake news aren‚Äôt concerned with misrepresentation. And they might not even be motivated by politics, but rather the potential profit from ads that can result from ‚Äúgoing viral.‚ÄĚ

As with any other form of image theft, photographers need to be practical about how to pursue infringement. But misrepresentation can damage a photographer’s credibility, so photographers would be wise to keep a vigilant eye out for real images used in fake ways.

Hear hear.  In fact, we would all be wise to do that.

Yesterday (Sunday, April 10) we brought you a very shocking story, through our partner blogger Islam Rising, that focused on the allegations of Muslim kids from Syrian families – as young as Grade 3 – that were attacking other children in a Halifax elementary schoolyard with chains, making hand gestures of decapitation and shouting pro-Islamic statements.

It was without a doubt one of the most-read stories we have ever had on the Calling Out Community site – in fact the #3 most-read story of all time out of more than 110 posts in the last year. We are particularly proud of the fact that we picked up on this story up to half a day before much bigger players did so.

The reactions were mostly favourable, minus that of one Muslim woman who had the gall to blame the reaction of the paper, after pulling the story without warning, as being the result of “poor journalism practices“:

image

You were partly correct. There is a newspaper strike into its 80+ day, and the article would have been written by a freelance author. However, that in no way affected the decisions made, nor was the writing of the article in any way the issue – it was the resulting editorial decisions (and accusations made against concerned citizens like ourselves) that we are now quite FURIOUS BEYOND WORDS ABOUT, and we are going to get even.

The paper posted a very revealing response today to the backlash created by stories like ours. What was offered was perhaps the worst piece of yellow journalism CRAP, which they considered their justification for retracting the story:

untitledCHRONICLE HERALD | PUBLISHED APRIL 8, 2016 – 8:01PM | UPDATED APRIL 11, 2016 – 9:01PM

The Chronicle Herald published a story Saturday that has drawn the wrath of many of our readers, particularly online.

It was based on two parents’ allegations of physical bullying and threatening behaviour by some of the children who recently arrived with refugee families.

The school cited in the article, Chebucto Heights Elementary, has had an influx of new students in recent weeks.

The story quoted two mothers who didn’t want their names used for fear of reprisals against them or their children. A third person, a grandparent, was interviewed and had similar concerns.

Since the article ran, another family has contacted us with a similar complaint.

Bullying is a sensitive subject. So is the integration of newcomers, particularly those who have faced challenges, even trauma, on their way here.

Our story was incomplete and insufficiently corroborated, given the serious nature of the allegations.

Readers also rightly pointed out that the headline ‚ÄėParents worried over school kids‚Äô brutality‚Äô was unfortunate. Using the word brutality to describe children, particularly of an identifiable cultural group, is problematic.

Reaction to the story was all over the map, from thoughtful to downright scary.

Many journalists called publishing the story irresponsible. Some parents weighed in on social media on the need for better discipline and more supports to help newcomers in our schools.

Appallingly, anti-Muslim groups with words like ‚Äėcrusade‚Äô and ‚Äėjihad‚Äô in their names started sharing the article.

We pulled it from our website.

Since then, some readers have contacted us to object to the article’s removal.

Our concern is about more than reaction.

Social media is not a great place for the cautious, well-considered examination of problems. A newspaper ought to be. We should have done better and we will.

We’ll start by asking more questions and getting more answers.

We will also run letters and commentary. Please email us at letters@herald.ca.

Unbelievable.

Here’s our thoughts – 6 things to take away from this piece:

confidentialApparently, in order for a source to be considered valid to this paper, they have to be publicly named? Is that a joke? One secret informant in 1972 brought down a sitting President (Nixon), sent several to jail, and earned the journalists a Pulitzer Prize after the Watergate scandal. Yet, apparently this paper thinks abused kids, terrified by little Islamic thugs already, need to also be exposed publicly for the audacity of criticizing the Muslim community.

images821ROVCJThe little Islamic thugs remain free and clear. There even seems to be some justification for their behavior. Notice the soft language used to describe them: they are called ‘newcomers’, ‘some of the children who recently arrived with refugee families’, ‘those who have faced challenges, even trauma, on their way here.’ Oh BOO HOO, poor little Mohamed. Don’t be upset that he choked your kid with a chain around his neck – cause he’s had a rough go. Right, and there are no abused kids in Halifax homes already? They should just shut up and take it?

childabuseApparently two different families can complain about the same thing and it’s still not enough. WHOA!  Wait a minute – but isn’t the paper now admitting that parents or grandparents have come forward now from four different families with the same story? How many kids have to come forward before its considered a story? What’s your child abuse minimum, Halifax Chronicle Herald?  (Oh yes, by the way Herald Chronicle,  ignoring or worse, even justifying child on child attacks is a form of abuse too).

These kids are ISIS soldiers - brutality can be a learned behaviour at any age.
These kids are ISIS soldiers – brutality can be a learned behaviour at any age.

“Using the word ‘brutality’ to describe children, particularly of an identifiable cultural group, is problematic.”  Wow, I guess the cultural elite in Halifax don’t get out much.  Perhaps it’s best we don’t tell the sensitive little darlings at this paper that there are videos on YouTube of Palestinian 3 year olds singing “death to Israel” songs (yes, there actually are songs) while brandishing knives.  Little ISIS soldiers under 10 years of age are slicing people’s heads off in other video horrors.  Kids can be brutal if they are taught to be.   But apparently in Halifax, it’s not considered ‘brutality’ when kids choke other kids in Grade 3 with chains. An autistic kid is threatened with decapitation but that’s not brutal? Children are even told that “Muslims will conquer the world”.  And yet you believe that the only truly problematic part of this story is the fact that some thinking people called it “brutality”?

thought-police-e1369141340932“Appallingly, anti-Muslim groups with words like ‚Äėcrusade‚Äô and ‚Äėjihad‚Äô in their names started sharing the article.” And that is the reason, dear friends, why a newspaper deleted its own stories from its own site.  Because someone was sharing it.  Sorry, is that not a newspaper’s actual REASON FOR EXISTENCE?  And is it in fact not the ULTIMATE MARKETING PLAN of most news media outlets today to boldly share controversial stories without compromise, and to have people you don’t even like or agree with share that story with others?

We used to call that “promotion“.  Are left-wing media outlets today so insecure about their messages that they now try to decide who gets to even read them One wonders what the editors of this paper would do if they knew that people actually use their newspaper to dry newly-washed windows, soak up any urine the new puppy might dribble out, cover the bottom of the bird cage, or to use as lightweight packing material for boxing up shiome nuts.  My God, the Halifax paper would fold in a week (pardon the pun).  Let’s keep these revelations our little secret – the poor ‘journalistic’ darlings are apparently dealing with enough.

Protecting parents and their kids with warnings about a real threat to their safety is not relevant, I guess – nor apparently is it the lack of this protection on an elementary school playground  the fact that the editors found to be most appalling.

Protecting Muslim reputations is paramount, no matter what the cost to  journalistic integrity or credibility. Clearly Muslims forced them to take the story down – otherwise this newspaper just provided us with a copy of their suicide note.

So, on behalf of the people of Halifax who have depended on you for generations to tell the truth, the whole truth (the W-5 who, what, when, where, why and how), we ask this question of the editors:

Herald Chronicle,  you bluntly stopped readers from being able to access a controversial story on your site, simply because some folks had the audacity to share it.  Therefore, can you now define for us going forward – what the hell is your REASON FOR CONTINUED EXISTENCE?

This is an truly and incredibly bad example of total CENSORSHIP – from a newspaper of all places.  And we call “B.S.” on this nonsense about an identified “anti-Islamic’ group who would have the word Jihad in their name.  AND SO WHAT IF THEY DO? They have every right to free speech in this country, which one would have thought a newspaper would defend loudly and long.  The Herald-Chronicle has lost their way in this 80 day journalist’s strike I guess, as now they believe they are our den mother or hall monitor, not the provider of the news?

How people use the information a newspaper provides is quite frankly not a journalist’s main concern nor actually any of their business – telling the true story is their only task.

Since when does this paper suddenly feel the need to protect Islamic groups over all others?  How did Muslims suddenly manage to become the victims in this story – or in general?  We’re pre-supposing that anti-Israeli or pro-BDS groups can share this newspaper’s articles to their hearts content, and such actions won’t trigger story retractions from this site, because the stories themselves are often anti-Israel or pro-BDS.

Spect_Revolt_Elites_Anton-EmdinIt was hard to pick a winner, but in the end, we chose this sentence as our ultimate lame-ass  favorite: “Social media is not a great place for the cautious, well-considered examination of problems. A newspaper ought to be. We should have done better and we will”.

Well guess what ladies and gentleman? Apparently you’re too stupid to figure this stuff out yourself. Don’t be talking around the water cooler or your Twitter feed about thinge. The cultural elite will tell you exactly how to think.

Here’s our message to the Chronicle Herald – SCREW OFF. No one asked the you to give a “cautious well-considered examination” of anything. Tell the damn story – who, what, when, where and why. We can figure out what it means for us, thanks just the same.

FINAL WORD

imageFolks, forget what these idiots have to say. They gave up their right to be heard when they deleted their story.

If you want to know what’s really going on with this story, checkout the Rebel Media video. They have boots on the ground in Halifax and they have uncovered a shocking story that the cultural elite – and the Liberals – don’t want you to know. What else is new.

Media Protects Syrian Child Attackers

On Saturday, April 9, the Halifax Chronicle Herald¬†published a very provocative story with the title “Parents worried over school kids‚Äô brutality at Chebucto Heights Elementary School.”. The story, along with the rest of the Saturday paper, was distributed¬†to 72,000 homes that morning, according to 2014 circulation stats.

But today, just one day later, you will find the following, when you attempt to view the story on their website:

If you didn’t or couldn’t read the retraction statement, we’ve taken the liberty to reprint it:

This story has been removed. ¬†Bullying is a sensitive subject. ¬†So is the integration of newcomers, particularly those who have faced challenges, even trauma, on their way here. ¬†Our story was incomplete. ¬†More work needs to be done and will be done before the story is republished. ¬†We should have done better and we will.”

If I were this reporter, I would sue. ¬†This is lamest thing we have ever read. ¬†“Bullying is a sensitive subject” – yah WE KNOW. ¬†That’s why we need to actually read about it – especially when the article alleged that¬†it’s happening on¬†elementary school property, at the hands of¬†Grade¬†3¬†Islamic thugs using chains to choke other kids, utilizing hand signals to signify cutting off their heads and announcing that Muslims are gonna conquer the world.

img_7082We especially need to read about it when it’s perpetrated by these so-called¬†Syrian “refugees” that our Prime Minister is paying a fortune from our national piggy bank to ram down our throats. Seemingly almost desperate to swamp us with these¬†Third World backwater-and-rape-culture suspects, Trudeau even ordered the selling off our remaining gold reserve¬†to pay for¬†their golden tickets to Canada, and our abundant social welfare programs.

We at Islam Rising (as well our hosts the Calling out Community) don’t care what their reasons were – the Chronicle Herald has demonstrated a gross lack of journalistic integrity with this story, and we’re all about shaming them for it today.¬†¬†If¬†the facts were wrong or the story was made up, then simply state that to the readers. ¬†Don’t papers fact-check stories, especially ones that are this explosive, before¬†they go to print?

This “incomplete story” nonsense, framed with references to “bullying” and “integration of newcomers”, says to us that they in fact¬†were also¬†bullied by¬†possibly the same Muslim community to shut up.

img_7080Staff at the Charlie Hebdo newspaper in Paris criticized Islam and were brutally slaughtered for it. Therefore, excuse us if we refuse to tolerate the bullying of our Canadian media by these Islamic hordes.

To be sure, there won’t be a republished story. ¬†They hope in 2 days you’ll forget all about it. ¬†We’re gonna make sure that doesn’t happen. So here now is the original story in its entirety.¬† The editors at the Chronicle Herald may have been scared into silence. The same knee jerk reaction/retraction after bullying will not be duplicated here. ¬†Enjoy.

img_7078HALIFAX ‚ÄĒ Concerned parents are reporting incidents of violence by refugee students at Chebucto Heights Elementary School.

Reports of students choking, pushing, slapping and verbally abusing their fellow classmates are causing parents to worry about the school’s disciplinary action.

‚ÄúThere has always been some fighting and bickering going on at the school but never to this degree,‚ÄĚ said Missy, the mother of two children who attend Chebucto Heights. She asked to be referred to by her nickname for this story.

Missy said her daughter, who is in Grade 3, was choked on Monday and Thursday last week by two refugee boys. A chain was used on both occasions, but she cannot confirm the size or strength of the chain. She said one boy yelled ‚ÄúMuslims rule the world‚ÄĚ while choking her daughter. School staff intervened, but to her knowledge, the students were not disciplined further.

According to the Halifax Regional School Board, refugees began registering at Chebucto Heights, located in the Cowie Hill neighbourhood of Halifax, in mid-February.

School board spokesman Doug Hadley said, as of last week, there are currently 252 refugee students enrolled in the region, with another 71 waiting on settlement of permanent housing.

Missy’s son, who is in Grade 5, has also been the subject of rough play on the soccer field. During games, refugee students reportedly take their thumb and slide it across their neck from left to right while staring into the eyes of their competitor; imitating the slicing of the throat.

Missy said the school’s response to this and other on-field violence was to cancel intramurals and soccer. But cancelling of recreational activity is not beneficial to students like Missy’s son who has ADHD and relies heavily on physical activity.

‚ÄúSoccer is what gets my son through the day,‚ÄĚ she said.

When asked about the violence at Chebucto Heights, Hadley said he couldn’t confirm whether an individual student had been involved in any behaviour that broke the board’s code of conduct.

He said there‚Äôs no connection between the cancellation of extracurricular activities and any violent behaviour. ‚ÄúThere‚Äôs a term teacher at Chebucto Heights that is finished their term in the next week or so, and they just finished the unit on soccer,‚ÄĚ he said. Intramurals will resume in May when the next term teacher begins.

Another mother, who asked not to be named, said her daughter was slapped after she and a classmate disagreed in the schoolyard. Her daughter reported the incident to her teacher.

‚ÄúThe school didn‚Äôt even call me to let me know.‚ÄĚ

She called and left a message, but said no one has returned her call. She said her daughter begs not to go to school because of the persistent bullying.

A language barrier could be a factor. Many refugee families do not speak English and integrating students into a primarily English speaking environment is bound to cause a few problems.

Missy suggests having an interpreter on staff to help new students understand curriculum or the reason for disciplinary action. ‚ÄúI‚Äôm all for the transition,‚ÄĚ said Missy.

‚ÄúI just think there should be people in the school to help and guide them.‚ÄĚ

The school board says there are currently 19.5 English as a second language teachers working in regional schools. ‚ÄúWe have a long history of welcoming newcomers all over the world to Nova Scotia,‚ÄĚ said Hadley. He encourages an open stream of communication between the school staff, students and parents.

‚ÄúIt doesn‚Äôt matter if the student is new to Canada or if they have been in school for many years in our system,‚ÄĚ said Hadley. ‚ÄúSchools would address it no matter who the child is the same way.”

So media tells a shocker that could bring a very real warning about danger to our kids Рand then just deletes it- most likely after pressure from the Islamic community.  Now, greater pressure from Canadians should be levelled on these editors for making this cowardly decision to pull this story.  This relates to real children in a real Canadian schools who have been attacked and whose very lives have been threatened by real Islamic thugs.

'Oddly enough, I feel offended...'
‘Oddly enough, I feel offended…’

A question to ponder:  if the grade 3 children in this family so easily perpetrate these crimes, imagine what the parents who raised them are like?

Our take on it? Round up the families of every child who instigated this violence and send them all back where they came from.

Don’t give us the “civil society / light shining on a hill” crap either. ¬†This is not redeemable behaviour – and if we allow it to continue we won’t have a civil society anymore. ¬†

These kids are¬†programmed to hate from birth, and their parents may be here to cause us harm. Kids that age don’t pick up “Muslims will rule the world” on Sesame Street.

To¬†our Prime Minister @Justintrudeau: At least for one day in your tumultuous reign and trust-fund-privileged life, can you cut the crap, drop the drama lessons, put the politics aside, grab some balls (maybe your “wife” will let you borrow hers) and do what’s right for Canada.

At least for one day.

Mother Bear Pawed Through Syria – Why?

Russia marched and flew into the Syrian Civil War, set up shop and started bombing the heck out of ‘someone’, ‘somewhere’ and they then packed up, stating they had accomplished ‘something’.¬† Are we ever going to know what at least¬†‘some’ of those facts are?

Reuters broke the story 3 days ago that the Syrian opposition High Negotiations Committee (HNC) called on United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday to launch an investigation into its accusations that Russia has repeatedly used air-delivered incendiary weapons in Syria.

Russia deployed warplanes to Syria last year to support President Bashar al-Assad against rebels seeking to end his rule. A crackdown by Assad on pro-democracy protesters five years ago sparked a civil war and Islamic State militants have used the chaos to seize territory in Syria and Iraq.

“Russian air forces have repeatedly deployed incendiary weapons and cluster munitions to kill, main and terrorize Syrian civilians, including in at least 10 documented incidents,” Riad Hijab, coordinator of the opposition HNC, wrote to Ban.

“They have violated the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons and breached international humanitarian law,” he wrote.

Russia in Syria

“MOTHER RUSSIA” – also known as The Bear,¬†The Empire, or¬†The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The West has always been suspicious of Russia’s motives – partly due to the fact that she never looked (nor do any nicknames sound) very motherly.

For one thing, as the recent conflict in Syria so aptly demonstrated, she can be and is an extremely brutal bully.

Underneath it all, the old mistrust and even fear of Russia has been reborn. The Soviet Union we saw under Mikhail Gorbachev and even Boris Yeltsin didn’t look, act or feel right when it was reborn as the Russian Federation¬†– it didn’t quite pass the smell test.¬† After all, how could such a brutal Communist dictatorship just vanish, replaced by rainbows, unicorns and doves for so long, as we saw under Gorbachev?¬† Or in the case of Boris Yeltsin, in a bottle of vodka?¬† A dictator alone cannot rule a dictatorship of 11 time zones singularly – he must have hundreds of thousands of cruel dictatorial helpers.

Well, the Russia we knew wasn’t dead.¬† She was apparently just sleeping – and she was awakened under the steel-blue gaze of¬†Russian President Vladimir Putin,¬†a President of Russia we can understand and not relate to¬†– just as it was with Brezhnev, Andropov, Kruschev and the rest of their ilk all the way back to¬†Lenin and Stalin.¬† Putin gives you the impression that he will play with¬†his kitten right now – but later tonight, he’ll burn your house down.

In all his¬†years of¬†rule, Putin never acted more like a Russian¬†President normally does, than he did concerning the subject of Syria’s bloody 4-year Civil War.¬† The brutal war has left approx. 250,000 Syrians dead, as we reported well over a year ago:

“CNN reported that the death toll has doubled every year for the last several years:¬†¬† ‘Since civil war broke out there, 310,000 people have been killed, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Thursday. A year earlier, SOHR‚Äôs tally stood at 162,402. And the year before, the United Nations put the death toll at 70,000.’¬† According to the CNN report, this crisis is the equivalent of the complete emptying of Greater Boston and the displacement of its 7.5 million people, as well as the starvation of the entire population of Moscow, the capital of Russia.”

However,¬†the real toll has been on the living – according to the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) website on the “Syrian Arab Republic”.¬† As of June 2015 they reported:

Zaatari: the Syrian city in exile. (Credit: Mandel Ngan/AP/Press Association Images)
Zaatari: the Syrian city in exile. (Credit: Mandel Ngan/AP/Press Association Images)

149,200 Iraqi¬†refugees (which the UNHCR notes is a government figure for Iraqis living in Syria.¬† Why on earth would Iraqi refugees reside in Syria, next door neighbor or not, when it’s being bombed to smithereens in a Civil War?)

4,194,554 Syrian refugees, as of June 2015, living in mostly giant tent cities set up in the deserts of Jordan, Syrian areas not directly affected by bombing, etc.

160,000 “stateless” people, which UNHCR defines as:¬† “persons who are not considered as nationals by any State under the operation of its law. This category refers to persons who fall under the agency’s statelessness mandate because they are stateless according to this international definition, but data from some countries may also include persons with undetermined nationality”.¬† So what, they just refused to tell UNHCR where they are from then?¬† Hmmmm.

7,632,500 “internally displaced persons (IDPs)” – the true horror of this conflict, which UNHCR defines as:¬†Persons who are displaced within their country and to whom UNHCR extends protection and assistance. It also includes people in IDP-like situations. For the most part, they simply have no home to go back to.

Total in need of United Nations assistance, of June 2015:

11,925,806 people

The city of Aleppo, formerly Syria’s second largest city, held nearly 2.3 million residents (2005) before the war.¬† Now, according to British newspaper the Guardian:

Those who remain in eastern Aleppo, roughly 40,000 from a prewar population estimated at about a million

[Aleppo proper РAleppo metro is 2.3 million], have been without electricity or running water for more than a year.  [emphasis mine]  Now a bombed-out shell, with nearly a million displaced from their homes

– what the United Nations is now calling the largest refugee crisis in world history -Russia came into the fray, told everyone else to get the Hell out of the way – and everyone did. Then they declared their objectives met after pounding Syria with over 1000 airstrikes, and headed for home.

What Did Russia Accomplish in Syria?

According to Al-Jazeera, as of January 20, 2016:

“At least 1,505 people have been killed in Russian air strikes since they started in September 2015. We have documented their names and can say at least 346 of them were children and only at least 47 were fighters,” Bassam al-Ahmad, spokesperson for the Violations Documentation Centre in Syria (VDC), told Al Jazeera on Wednesday.

The VDC is an independent, non-governmental organization that has been monitoring the conflict in Syria since April 2011.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights put the death toll at 1,015, adding that 238 of those killed were children. The Observatory also said that at least 1,141 fighters had been killed, including fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.”

And yet the Civil War isn’t even close to being finished yet, and ISIS is still alive and well. So what were they doing in Syria? And why such a high proportion of civilians?¬† We’ll likely never find out for sure.¬† And that’s thanks to the weak leadership of Barack Obama.

Germany: World’s Fastest Growing Jewish AND Islamic Populations

by Calling Out Community, Posted November 8, 2015.  Updated November 19, 2015.

IMG_3649A new Jewish-German publication was important enough of a cause to lure German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle to the launch party two weeks ago. He also wrote a glowing tribute in the first issue:

“This publication shows the world the new blossoming of Jewish life in Germany,” wrote Westerwelle, adding, “Jewish life has once again become an integral part of our society. Seven decades after the Shoah [Holocaust], many different branches of Judaism are again ordaining rabbis in Germany, synagogues are being built, and Jewish schools and preschools opened … our Jewish community is an inextricable part not only of our history, but also – and above all – of our future … We need people who are engaged with and knowledgeable about Jewish history in Germany, and who have a vision for the future, and we need media to convey and elucidate this vision.”

Amen. And who could have thought such a thing would be written about the Jewish race in the birthplace of the Nazis, the Third Reich, Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust?

It would likely surprise many reading this to note that some 100,000 Jews are registered within the community, even though the number of Jews in Germany is probably more than double that.  (Editor: However, it actually made me feel quite uncomfortable knowing that such a registration program exists, but they clearly do not see it as a threat of any kind.)

Jewish publisher Dr. Rafael Seligmann

According to publisher Dr. Rafael Seligmann, the new “Jewish Voice in Germany“focuses on the long, complex, and sensitive connection between the country and its Jewish citizens who were ‚ÄúGermans‚ÄĚ until the Nuremberg Laws of 1935 turned them into ‚ÄúJews.‚ÄĚ

Today, there is a vibrant revival of Jewish life, diversity of Jewish opinion, and revitalization of an indissoluble link between Germany and Jews around the world. One might even be shocked to learn that Germany now boasts the fastest growing Jewish community in the world! Mjur

The recognition of the community’s influence goes to the highest office in the land. On November 24, 2012Chancellor¬†Angela Merkel became the first German leader to address the Jewish community’s annual council meeting, seeking to reassure them that a recent ban of circumcision by a regional court was not a cause for alarm, and did not affect their religious ceremony, instituted by the great Abraham himself and practised for millennia since.¬† She also made clear her continued support for Israel, even as she currently welcomes at least 800,000 Muslim migrants into the country.

We thank God that the German people have once again embraced the Jewish community as the vital, life-affirming group that it is, adding to every aspect of German life.  The interconnectivity between Jewish and the general German populations is a symbiosis that must be protected by both sides, or both sides will perish.

It is that connection, that vibrant excitement and pride, and the concerns of a new generation that readers will find within the pages of Jewish Voice from Germany, which Dr. Seligmann founded nearly one year ago.

Dr. Seligmann believes that if one counts the Israelis living in Berlin and other cities, and the Russian and American Jews living in Germany but not active in the community, one would find nearly a quarter of a million Рroughly half the number of Jews that lived in Germany before the war.

Berlin's Brandenburg Gate: in 1939, a symbol of Nazi power; and in 2014, framing a new Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

Westerwelle and Dr. Seligmann both emphasize the future, rather than the past: “If I only wrote about the Shoah and the Nazis, I would run out of readers,” Dr. Seligmann says. “The subject of the Shoah is, in a way, similar to drugs: it causes such strong emotions. But people are also interested in other parts of Jewish history, literature and culture,” he adds.

The first 30,000 copies of the inaugural issue reached some 150,000 readers in Germany, the U.S., Canada, Britain and Israel. The German press welcomed the publication warmly.

Bild, for example, called Seligmann a “winner” and wished him good luck. That generosity somehow didn’t infect the two Jewish competitors – the weekly Judische Allgemeine and the monthly Judische Zeitung – who chose to ignore the new publication.

“The German press was very excited,” says Seligmann, “but the Jewish press chose not to mention us. That’s all right. The public will decide whether to read us, notwithstanding what they write or don’t write.”

logoThe Jewish Voice logo features its name in English and Hebrew, with a small German flag on one side and a Star of David on the other.

Seligmann sees the new publication as a bridge: “It will connect Jews with Gentiles, Germany with the world. We want to communicate the long history that Jews and Germans share with each other.”

“Here in Germany, we’re witnessing the fastest growing Jewish community in the world,” Seligmann continues. “We have Jewish artists, Jewish writers and Jewish businessmen. Berliners opened their hearts to Daniel Barenboim and Michael Blumenthal, the director of the Jewish Museum. Israeli and Jewish tourists flood the capital.”

In the inaugural issue, you’ll find an upbeat feature telling the story of thousands of Israelis in Berlin. The accompanying photo shows four youngsters draped in German and Israeli flags with the caption reading: “Learning to know each other.”

Tens of thousands of Muslim migrants march through Slovenia to Germany. What on earth is Chancellor Merkel THINKING?
Tens of thousands of Muslim migrants march through Slovenia to Germany. What on earth is Chancellor Merkel THINKING?

However, perhaps the love fest between Jew and German is a bit more than we can possibly expect?  For in the midst of this new-found harmony, the Chancellor of Germany has, for reasons that baffle even her own supporters, insisted on throwing open the doors of Germany to 800,000 Muslims Рa number 3 times larger than the Jewish population of the entire country.

Is it possible that the German Chancellor can be so na√Įve that she would allow…

…the fastest growing Jewish community in the world to now face the fastest growing Islamic community in the world?

We believe this story is just beginning to be told.¬† The real agenda behind Merkel’s insistence on almost destroying her country for the sake of these ravaging hordes is unknown.¬† Are German Jews safe?

We are paying attention, and we will be there to keep telling the story as it unfolds.

Hijacking the Holy Land

by Calling Out Community, Posted August 4, 2015.  Updated September 15, 2015.

DVDCoverI highly recommend a documentary called “Hijacking the Holy Land” on DVD.¬† Happened to see it at our local public library,¬†and I thought it would be some militant leftwing, anti-Israel garbage – but was still¬†curious enough to borrow it.

It’s not like anything I’ve ever seen before. I’m going to have to watch something else now today or I won’t be able to sleep. It’s not some sappy or preachy “God loves Israel” thing. It’s shows very graphically just what Muslims actually teach and believe. No not the extremists – ALL of them. They WANT us to believe they are peace loving people like us. I’ll never believe that again. They are our biggest enemies.

It’s extremely graphic and I’m glad – when you read the English words of what they are saying I think your mind shuts down. I still thought they had to be making this up. But when I saw 5-10 year old kids at rallies singing songs about burning America to the ground and destroying Israel, I started to get REALLY angry.

imagesL3M0BT01There’s no way to make peace with these people. There’s an “Arab Friendship Centre” down the street from me. What a crock.¬† Do they think we, their neighbours, don’t recognize that not a single non-Muslim ever enters that building?¬† It’s quite possibly a front for some locally-bred terrorist group.

They don’t want peace or to be our friends. Shariah law identifies us as “infidels” if we don’t believe in Islam, and as a result, the penalty we pay is for them to round us up and cut our heads off. And in case we think that mindset only exists in some ISIS- or Boko Haram-held stronghold in some backwoods¬†somewhere, the documentary shows clips from a recent Muslim rally in TORONTO.¬† Their comments about Canada and the United States sickened and angered me to the point, that I can now see where militant belief comes into play – I wanted to blow up the whole place up after I saw what they said.

Christians are incredibly naive. We have the most unbelievable enemy with the most wicked ideas flooding into our country and we don’t realize it. They don’t tolerate us. They don’t ‘live in peace with us’.¬†¬†They just want a world free of Jews and Christians.

Let’s get real for a moment.¬† In the Middle East, Muslims don’t care about an independent Palestinian¬†state either. Muslims don’t care about Palestine. If a Palestinian ever tries to go to Egypt or Jordan and claim refugee status, they are denied.¬† The Palestinians’ biggest trading partner is not an Islamic nation, it is Israel.¬† For all their whining and complaining on the world stage about how evil Israel is and how persecuted the Palestinians are, not one Islamic country even lifts a finger to provide the “assistance” they claim the Palestinians need.¬† And it’s difficult to see what need the Palestinians actually have, when you walk through their settlements and see that every home has a satellite dish, every person a cell phone.

In Syria, millions of people are living in the desert because of the Civil War there.  Do you think that any Islamic countries providing food, emergency supplies, etc. ?  NO Рthough the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is doing exemplary work in Syria, and 34 SARC volunteers have lost their lives since the beginning of the conflict in Syria, all of them killed or captured while carrying out their humanitarian duties. They were all clearly displaying the Red Crescent emblem, which should have given them protection under international humanitarian law.

However, it is Christian organizations that are truly making a difference in that region, with more than 4 million people refugees that have fled Syria, and an additional 7 million others displaced from their homes within Syria:

In the first¬†6 months of 2015, in concert with the Red Crescent, the International Red Cross¬†has fed 4.6 million people, provided health care for 32,000, and provided safe, clean drinking water – for 16 million¬†people.¬†¬†In¬†the¬†Tweet shown here from on August 4, 2015, they stated that in south Damascus alone, the capital of Syria, they provide daily bread for 160,000 people.¬† That’s incredible.

World Vision is “in Lebanon, assisting more than 297,000 Syrian refugees. Help includes provision of food vouchers, hygiene kits, and projects to improve access to clean water and sanitation.¬† They also offering classes for Syrian children to facilitate their enrolment in Lebanese schools and providing supplementary classes for those already enrol‚Äčled in school.¬† In Jordan, World Vision is setting up water and sanitation facilities for 30,000 refugees in the new camp at Azraq.”

Samaritan’s Purse is also helping refugees in Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq. ‘We offer aid to all the society and from all backgrounds without discrimination,’ said our partner. ‚ÄúWe realize as a church that we are building bridges with many kinds of people.‚ÄĚ

Even the Israeli Defence Forces are assisting in the Syrian crisis, by treating more than 1,400 people wounded in the Syrian Civil War at one of their top secret hospital bases.

But Muslims?¬† They couldn’t care less about Syria either.

The Arab League uses Palestinians to attack Israel daily without being accused directly of¬†doing so – the gullible Palestinians play right into the Arab League’s hands.¬†¬†Presidents Carter and Obama are so totally anti-Israel, from sourced quotes about Israel that both have made, that I officially am sickened by both of them.¬† Especially Carter, who’s such a good Sunday School boy on paper.¬† His comments about Israel made me sick to my stomach. He’s just a stupid, liberal lunatic, anti-Semitic racist.

Obama though is totally different.¬† If you have not yet watched the documentary Obama 2016, you must do so as soon as possible.¬† He’s not suave or cool or hip. I see beyond that, to a man who could be entirely EVIL.¬† I believe he is working hard every day toward the total destruction of the Unites States economy ON PURPOSE and Obama 2016 will blow your mind on that.¬† If his actions do not have evil intent, then he is by far the most incompetent President in American history, and should be arrested, tried and jailed at best for his crimes against the American people, including racking up a $13 trillion on his own, 4 times more than all of his predecessor Presidents combined.¬† And it grows by $2 billion a day, says the National Debt Clock.

untitled
A must-see documentary on the rise and rule of Barack Obama, and the price America pays for electing him President

But this Hijacking video shows how Obama also wants a weak Israel – and he knows EXACTLY what that means if he stops supporting Israel enough. If Israel becomes just a little weaker, the 22-nation Arab League will take it as their sign to overrun Israel and slaughter all the Jews.¬† Ridiculous, you say?¬† They’ve already tried it twice – in the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, the Six Day War in 1967 and 1973 Yom Kippur War.

If even one Jew lives, they believe they have lost. They don’t want peace with Israel – they want no Israel.¬† Did you know, when Israel moved out of the West Bank and gave the land to Palestinians in a “land for peace” deal¬†– the Muslims hated the Jews so much they tore down every building that a Jew had built. They would rather have slept outside for months than in a house owned by a Jew.¬† And they began firing missiles – 10,000 of them in 10 years – from those lands that were rightfully overtaken by the Jews in the Wars mentioned above – wars that Muslims, not Jews, started in every case.¬† And the Muslims call this a “Land for PEACE” deal?

Islamic schools even teach¬†that modern Israelis aren’t related to the Biblical children of Israel – they say that the children of Israel were ARABS – so that modern Israel would have no claim to Israeli land. It’s beyond belief.¬† They teach that the Wailing Wall and Temple Mount are a fraud – Muslims believe neither Solomon or Herod ever BUILT a temple. They believe MUSLIMS built the Temple and the Jews STOLE it – again to teach their people to hate Jews for owning those sites today.

You have to see this video.  If you are one of the only leftwing loonies left today that still believes Islam promotes peace, when the Quran absolutely discredits that belief system, then watch this video simply to be informed about what the opposite side is telling.  Along the way, however, you are going to see firsthand just how absolutely betrayed you have been in believing in these people in the first place.

See this video.  Today.
