Canada’s Reputation Nose Dive

In 2017, just three days before Canada’s 150th birthday on July 1, the Reputation Institute announced its annual list of the World’s Most Reputable Countries.¬† In what seemed to be an early birthday present from the world, Canada once again reached the illustrious spot of the #1 Most Reputable Country on Earth.

This morning (June 21, 2018), the Reputation Institute announced its annual list of the World’s Most Reputable Countries for 2018.¬† And for the first time in 6 years, we weren’t #1 or #2 on Earth.¬† Today, we have the privilege of being #7.

I blame the Liberal government and Justin Trudeau squarely for this outrageous drop in our global reputation. And I’m spitting furious about it.

Everything that the mentally and socially-retarded “Golden Boy”, @Justintrudeau, touches these days turns to lead, not gold.¬† Apparently, this now includes Canada’s reputation on the world stage.

The Reputation Institute‘s popular “RepTrak” listing of national reputations on the world stage has become a bigger and bigger event every year.¬† Every year, the Institute polls conducts a giant survey of over 58,000 people living in G7 countries, asking them who they believe to be the “most trusted nation on Earth” out of the top 55¬†economies of the world.

Canada has done very well for itself over the past number of years:

Credit: Reputation Institute, 2017 Country RepTrak Report2017 – #1
2016 – #2 (Sweden was #1)
2015 – #1
2014 – #2 (Switzerland was #1)
2013 – #1
2012 – #1
Credit: Reputation Institute, 2018 Country RepTrak ReportOf the G7 nations, whose residents vote for most reputable nation,¬†Canada has the smallest population of them all.¬† So we didn’t stack the deck with votes.¬† In fact,¬†it means that, in the past,¬†people from the other 6 nations must have voted for us more than for their own country.

Our ranking score in 2018 was 79.2.¬† It was 82.8 in 2017.¬† Why does this drop¬†matter?¬† In 2017, when we were named #1, Lonely Planet’s website named us the best place in the world to visit that year. That’s an actual tourism boost, with all the dollars related to it, just for ranking higher in this annual survey.¬† In fact, the Reputation Institute did an analysis of 72 of the top 100 countries in the rankings over the course of a year, and determined that the following on average was true:

Credit: Reputation Institute, 2018 Country RepTrak Report So this isn’t just some popularity contest, and it MATTERS if we rank lower. It costs us actual exports and actual tourism dollars to have dropped so low.¬† OUR REPUTATION MATTERS around the world.

In fact, for us to drop to such a low point as #7 in the annual ranking is highly significant, as it shows that our reputation in the eyes of the residents of our own nation, as well as the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, has plummeted over the past year.

Now, I don’t at all dispute the other nations’ deserving of the rankings they have this year.¬† We all love Australia, and New Zealand as the Commonwealth sisters that they are.¬† And while it is interesting to see the entire Scandinavian region in the top 10 – Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark, it’s not overly surprising.

What is (not) surprising is WHY we dropped so far.¬† In a nutshell, the Reputation Institute blames…our federal government.

Look no further than the “costumes” (according to locals) worn by our idiot Prime Minister, Justa TrueDope, along with Mr. Dress-up’s entire family, when travelling to India earlier this year, as the Toronto Star headline screamed:

Indian politician Omar Abdullah took to Twitter with a collage of the Trudeau family in their colourful attire, touching their hands and bowing their heads in the namaste gesture.

‚ÄúIs it just me or is this choreographed cuteness all just a bit much now? Also FYI, we Indians don‚Äôt dress like this every day, sir, not even in Bollywood.‚ÄĚ (Omar Abdullah, Indian politician)

Earlier in the week, Trudeau’s office rescinded an invite to a convicted Canadian Sikh extremist to a reception in Delhi.  That caused no small amount of embarrassment and fury at home, when he attempted to blame the Surrey Centre MP (himself a Sikh) for arranging the meet and greet between the Prime Minister and this convicted terrorist.  NO ONE was buying it.

Then there was the debacle recently with the United States over trade disputes, and Trudeau’s pissy 12-year-old school girl responses to Donald Trump’s legitimate concerns over various subsidies we provide – the recent “Supply Management” debacle in Quebec with dairy farmers, which will cost us all more for the grocery staple called MILK, being one example.

As a result of our government’s dumbass decisions in this regard, the US government slapped tariffs on a few Canadian-made or produced items.¬† Trudeau’s “Mean Girls” monologue following this was embarrassing to witness – and infuriating – as he responded in kind with tariffs of his own.

Let’s get real for a moment about Canada/US trade.

Canada is the #10 largest economy in the world.¬† We used to be the United States’ largest trading partner, but no more – China has taken that illustrious spot.¬† According to the US. Census Bureau, in 2017, we did we currently do about $581.5 billion worth of trade in goods with the US, with the US selling us $282.2 billion worth of goods, and buying $299.3 billion from Canada. That, however, is only a small fraction of the United States’ current GDP of about $23.76 trillion.

If Canada stopped doing trade with the United States, the #1 economy in world history by far, the United States would survive.¬† We buy only 18% of the US’ goods. The US would survive a trade war with us.¬† They would suffer a serious recession, however, which would impact on all their other global partners, who are our global partners as well.

If the United States stopped doing trade with Canada, however, Canada would sent into the Stone Ages.¬† The US buys 76% of everything we sell.¬† One doesn’t recover from that loss of customer.¬† One is economically destroyed.

At the recent G7 summit in Montreal, Trudeau (the “hostess with the mostest”) decided that the best way to treat house guests is to stab them in the back as soon as they leave – in the news media.¬† President Trump had just taken off on Air Force One to Singapore to meet North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, when Trudeau began to bad-mouth the President behind his back, in a disgusting, classless display.

Trudeau apparently didn’t have the balls to do it to Trump’s face.¬† He also didn’t have the intelligence to understand that there are televisions on Air Force One.¬† Trump launched a string of verbal attacks in response – and the Canadian dollar plummeted by 0.19 of a US cent,¬†to 76.96 cents US, after Trump called Trudeau ‚Äúdishonest‚ÄĚ and ‚Äúweak.‚Ä̬† Trump then refused to¬†sign the G7 Summit declaration, a slap to the face of the goon running our country.

In my opinion, the prissy little queen, Trudeau, actually deserved a punch to the throat.

And so now here we are, on the first day of Summer, learning that the world just doesn’t like Canada as much as it used to.¬† Individual Canadians did absolutely nothing to make that happen.¬† Neither did provincial governments for the most part.¬† No, this falls squarely on the shoulders of the idiots in Ottawa.

And there is no greater example than our Crime Minister, Justin Trudeau, the Queen of Farts.

He’s no longer a “useful idiot”, as some have called him in the past.¬† No, now that he’s ruining our reputation as a country, he’s¬†just a garden-variety idiot.

October 2019, and the next federal election, cannot come fast enough for me Рnor for the reputation of this country I love so much.

Vimy Ridge at 100: Canada Rises Up

A cadet stands in front of the National War Memorial in Ottawa during a ceremony to recognize 100 years since the Battle of Vimy Ridge. (Credit: Andrew Foote/CBC)

The steps of the National War Memorial in Ottawa were bathed in the glow of 3,598 candles on Saturday night, April 9, 2017 Рeach one lit to represent a Canadian soldier killed in the First World War Battle of Vimy Ridge.  Canadian Army Cadets then stood guard overnight at our capital city War Memorial to mark the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge, fought from April 9-12, 1917.

It seems fitting to include these young cadets in guard duty this week.  They would have been just like all the other boys too young to enlist in active duty as the Great War began.  Left behind while their older brothers, uncles, and fathers went to the fight on foreign fields, these cadets, in a very real sense, are a picture of Canada herself in 1917.

Though She was 49 years old at the time of this Battle, Canada’s¬†first half century was marked by very little calamity. ¬†That was all about to change on foreign battlefields with names like¬†Ypres, Vimy Ridge, Passchendaele, and others. The horrors seen and sacrifices made in this Battle;¬†the military tactical genius that Canada employed;¬†and the bravery of the young men themselves, would lift¬†Canada internationally from behind¬†Her mother’s (Great Britain) apron to a new¬†level of global respect and recognition,¬†a nation that stands on her own, which Canada has built upon ever since.

VimyCross

As late as¬†February 2017, you wouldn’t have to go further than a church basement in Toronto to view¬†a historical artifact from the Battle of Vimy¬†Ridge¬†– a¬†100-year old wooden battlefield cross.

Regimental carpenters had pre-built and would quickly paint the names and erect these crosses right on the battlefield, a thankless job that became an art form in itself, as many hundreds of these crosses were erected on far too many bomb-scarred fields across western Europe.

The fact that this cross¬†had survived for a century was a testament to how well it had been taken care of. ¬†CBC reported¬†that it had been transported across the Atlantic to¬†France twice, but had always found its way back to its “temporary” 100-year home in Canada.

CBC continued:

The cross was expertly packed for the voyage along with one poppy for every one of the 57 names etched on it. It will go on display this weekend at the newly opened Vimy Ridge visitor centre. (Credit: Nahlah Ayed/CBC)

Etched¬†on its surface are the names of 57 Canadian soldiers, most from the 15th Battalion, and most of whom were killed in the first hours of that assault. ¬†That makes it one of only a handful of surviving witnesses ‚ÄĒ and a real-time partial record ‚ÄĒ of the heavy Canadian losses in those pivotal opening moments of the battle.

The 15th Battalion was tasked with taking on the Eastern edge of the ridge, which meant advancing over a longer distance, and through more German lines than other Canadian units.

In fact, they expected such heavy casualties with this Battalion that they had actually pre-dug their graves before the battle even began.  They ended up with two sites where multiple Canadian troops from this Battalion were buried together, and each was given a cross.  This was one of those two handmade memorials.

In February 2017, for the first time in a century, and thanks to the Canadian Ministry of Veterans Affairs, this Celtic cross was flown across the Atlantic, where ministry officials were there to greet it and to transport it Рif only temporarily, to the same spot where these people listed are actually buried.

W.H. Collyer died at Vimy Ridge at 17. The legal age to join the Canadian army was 18, so he would have lied about his age in order to enter the fight. (Credit: CBC)

On the 100th Anniversary memorial weekend, and for the first time in 100 years, the cross was raised over the actual graves of those men for a limited time.

As dramatic as the story of this grave marker is, it will, of course, be overshadowed by the incredible size and beauty of the Canadian Vimy Ridge Memorial itself.   It is by far the most dramatic Canadian memorial to any cause on Earth.  At the time that it was being constructed, however, Vimy Ridge was not considered to be as important perhaps as we see it today.

The Vimy Memorial itself changed all that, designed by Canadian architect Walter Seymour Allward, and taking an astonishing 11 years to build.

Canada Bereft” or “Mother Canada” is the largest statue at the front of the memorial and is said to depict “Canada mourning her fallen sons.” Its inscription reads:

“To the valour of their countrymen in the Great War and in memory of their sixty thousand dead this monument is raised by the people of Canada.”

It is often a quiet place, even when there are many visitors, as it really is a place of reflection.

And Canada has much to reflect on.  In fact, I had a lump in my throat as I was writing a sentence. What those Canadian men and boys did, beginning in blinding rain and sleet, on that early Easter Monday morning 100 years ago, is still today looked at as being a marvel of modern warfare.

Situated in northern France, the heavily-fortified seven-kilometre ridge held a commanding view over the Allied lines. Anyone in the future who¬†would be assaulting the Ridle¬†over an open graveyard, since previous French attacks had failed –with over 100,000 casualties.

Canada was given this task next – and to be blunt, there was some mentality¬†of Canadians being “cannon fodder” in this equation. ¬†History shows that Canadian troops, when fighting as part of a larger British Empire¬†force, were often thrown into the front lines of horrific battles, in order to risk¬†less British lives.

Canadian troops go “over the wall” and into a great victory in Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917. Troops took the Ridge in one day, suffering the greatest one-day loss of life in Canadian history. (Credit: Metro News)

All four divisions of the little Canadian Expeditionary Force ¬†– ¬†mostly volunteers – were brought¬†together for the first time¬†in Canada’s 49-year history to fight this Battle. ¬†Including one British division, they¬†numbered¬†170,000 troops¬†over 145,000 Canadians, virtually¬†our entire Army at that time.

If we had lost – if Canada¬†had failed on that Ridge – it would’ve been an unthinkable disaster for our nation, as we risked¬†destroying our entire national Army. ¬†I get angry just thinking about the risk our nation was asked to take.

To capture this difficult position, the Canadians would carefully plan and rehearse their attack.  To give them greater flexibility and firepower in battle,  specialist roles as machine-gunners, rifle-men and grenade-throwers underwent weeks of training behind the lines using models to represent the battlefield, and new maps were drawn up from aerial photographs to guide their way.

bring men forward safely for the assault, engineers dug deep tunnels from the rear to the front. Despite this training and preparation, the key to victory was a devastating artillery barrage that would crelate a moving wall of high explosives and shrapnel that forced the Germans to stay in their treaches and away from their machine-guns.

In the week leading up to the battle, Canadian and British artillery pounded the enemy positions on the ridge, using new artillery tactics that allowed the gunners to first target, then destroy enemy positions.  Canadians were given an almost limitless supply of artillery shells, which destroyed hardened defences and barbed wire.  The Canadian infantry would be well supported when it went into battle Рwith over 1,000 artillery pieces laying down withering, supportive fire.

Attacking together for the first time, the four Canadian divisions stormed the ridge at 5:30am on April 9, 1917. More than 15,000 Canadian infantry overran the Germans all along the front.  Incredible bravery and discipline allowed the infantry to continue moving forward under heavy fire, even when their officers were killed.

There were countless acts of sacrifice, as Canadians single-handedly charged machine-gun nests or forced the surrender of Germans in protective dugouts.  Hill 145, the highest and most important feature of the Ridge, and where the Vimy monument now stands, was captured in a case of bayonets versus German machine-gun positions.

It took there more days of costly battle to deliver the final victory. The Canadian operation was an important success, even if the larger British and French offensive, of which it had been a part, had failed. But it was victory at a heavy cost:  on top of the near 3,600 Canadians killed, more tHan 7,000 were wounded.

Prince Charles, the British Prince of Wales, said so dramatically and beautifully at the 100th Anniversary ceremony on April 9, 2017:

Prince Charles and sons Prince William and Prince Harry, visit one of the only still-accessible tunnels used by Canadian troops at Vimy Ridge. (Credit: Daily Mail)

‚Äú(The Canadians) succeeded in seizing the vital high ground of Vimy ‚Äď a task in which many others before them had failed,‚ÄĚ Prince Charles said.

‚ÄúHowever, victory came at an unbearably heavy cost. This was, and remains, the single bloodiest day in Canadian military history. Yet Canadians displayed a strength of character and commitment to one another that is still evident today. They did not waver. This was Canada at its best. ‚Ķ ‚ÄĚ [Emphasis mine]

More than just a memorial to one specific Battle and the nearly 3,600 soldiers who died there, Vimy Ridge became a national place of mourning for all soldiers of the Great War.  In fact, there are 11,285 names carved into the monument, all Canadians who died during the Great War but who have no known resting place. The names are those still found across Canada today.

The April 9, 2017 ceremony for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge was attended by more than 25,000 Canadians, with millions more Canadians estimated to be listening on the radio and over television.

To them, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau summarized the day:

“As I see the faces gathered here ‚Äď veterans, soldiers, caregivers, so many young people ‚Äď I can‚Äôt help but feel a torch is being passed,‚ÄĚ Trudeau said in his speech. ‚ÄúOne hundred years later, we must say this, together. And we must believe it: Never again.‚ÄĚ

A United Nations Fox In Israel’s Henhouse

In February 2016, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion called a press conference to publicly question the appointment of a Canadian law professor to a key United Nations job.

One wonders how “Libtarded” you would have to be before the Liberal government of Canada said “no way, this idiot needs to be fired”.¬†

But even when a globalist government like Canada asks the United Nations to reconsider, they do nothing.  Now nearly 9 months later, UN Human Watch  joins a rising tide of opposition against this absolutely ridiculous, inappropriate and possibly fraudulent appointment within the well-heeled ranks of the United Nations Рexposing their dark anti-Semitic plans.

talk-to-stupid-peopleFor the first time in our blog’s history, the Calling Out Community issues the following¬†notice¬†to our¬†valued readers:¬†

WARNING:  We assert that the foundational beliefs of the antagonist in this story, and the antagonist himself, are so BLATANTLY STUPID that uncontrolled squinting may result, as you continue to read the details. Reader discretion is advised.

A small but growing union of varied interests are demanding that he United Nations immediately suspend Michael Lynk, a Canadian expert on international law,¬†from his¬†appointment as “UN¬†Special Rapporteur on the Situation¬†Of¬†Human¬†Rights¬†in the Palestinian Territory Occupied Since 1967.”¬†

The job title itself shows the clear bias and intent of the United Nations to malign Israel every chance they can get (Israel, for example,¬†would certainly not agree that they are “occupying” “Palestinian Territory”) – not to mention the fact that just reading the title causes epileptic fits.

But why on earth would a Canadian Liberal cabinet minister go out of his way to fight with the United Nations to have one of our own citizens fired from such a prestigious United Nations appointment?  It seems that Mr. Lynk has embarrassed Canada by failing to disclose, when he applied for the post, that he was:

The United Nations fox interviews for the Israeli henhouse position. (Credit: ToonPool)

…A member of the board of directors of the National Council on Canada-Arab Relations; a member of the advisory board of the ‚ÄúCanadian-Palestinian Education Exchange‚ÄĚ (CEPAL), which promotes events like the ‚ÄúAnnual Israeli Apartheid Week‚ÄĚ; and, Lynk is also on the advisory board of Friends of Sabeel North America (a pro-Palestinian advocacy group).

Why would it matter that he failed to disclose his leadership role in three pro-Palestinian organizations when he applied to be come the United Nations special investigator, looking into allegation of Israeli human rights violations against Palestinians?  Hmmm, smells good to me Рsaid no one, ever.

And this guy isn’t just biased, he’s clearly a card-carrying¬†Jew-hater.¬† As mentioned,¬†he sits on the board of an organization that hosts an “Israeli Apartheid Week“.¬† Just a tiny bit of anti-Israel bias, perhaps?

As they say in sports, “the fix is in”.

poster_thumb_final

Apartheid Week is a misnomer – the word¬†“apartheid” is defined in the dictionary as a uniquely-coined term relating to the racial discrimination policies of South Africa.¬†Their site introduction:

“Each year, Israeli Apartheid Week takes place across more than 150 universities and cities. It aims to raise awareness about Israel‚Äôs ongoing settler-colonial project and apartheid policies over the Palestinian people.”

They list dates around the world, including in the mythical land called “Palestine”, which isn’t on any map, and South Africa – ironic to be trying to perpetrate “the Israeli apartheid”¬†myth in¬†the only country to have actual apartheid.¬† They also seem to be getting a lot of sponsorship money or something, as they are all over the world?

A¬†letter from the UN Watch group to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday, October 27 was issued hours before Lynk presented a 26-page report on Israeli actions against Palestinians to the UN General Assembly‚Äôs Third Committee.¬† In it, he criticized the Jewish state for its actions in Gaza and the West Bank, particularly settlement building and what he termed ‚Äúexcessive use of force‚ÄĚ against Palestinians.

Rocket attacks against Israel, since the withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza Strip in 2005. Photo Credit: Israeli Defense Forces
Rocket attacks against Israel, since the withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza Strip in 2005. Photo Credit: Israeli Defense Forces

Excessive force – wow.¬† 1o,ooo rockets had been fired by Hamas at Israel over a decade, and Israel did nothing.¬† 10,000 rockets, and over 2,300 were fired in 2012 alone, from UN-sponsored schools, hospitals, mosques, people’s homes – it was so outrageous.¬† When Israel finally took action to stop it, a pro-Palestinian spokesmen actually stated “no big deal, Hamas rockets mostly missed their targets anyway, but¬†Israel’s rockets DIDN’T miss”.

bozoHEY KIDS – can you spot today’s special moral lesson, that the REAL Bozos in Hamas seem to have missed?

So, knowing that this guy was a total anti-Semitic hack with very public connections to pro-Palestinian groups, why would the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (@UNHumanRights) want him to oversee their investigations into Israeli human rights violations?¬† Isn’t it obvious – because they already wrote the final report, and just want someone to create the evidence.

img_1340

So, clearly he was intentionally hired to do a hatchet job for them against Israel.

This becomes more obvious when you glance at the current membership¬†of this “Human Rights” love fest including:

  • China (no comment required)
  • Cuba¬†(no comment required)
  • Nigeria (the home of Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram, killing Christians by the thousands)
  • Philippines (whose wingnut President admitted on TV that he’s murdered 3 drug dealers¬†– then¬†told citizens to do the same)
  • Russia (no comment required)
  • (Credit: Sun Cartoons)
    (Credit: Sun Cartoons)

Saudi Arabia (how does a country, whose women cannot even drive or buy a coffee at Starbucks without male assistance, ¬†get on the UN Human Rights Commission.¬† They also gripe about¬†Israel’s military, budgeted at $18.6 billion, yet THEIR military budget is $87.2 billion)¬†

  • UAE (they don’t even recognize Israel’s existence as a state, and the two countries have no formal diplomatic relations)
  • Venezuela (who’s people are starving and rioting in the streets)
  • Vietnam (America fought a war for 10 years almost to get rid of their Communists – who are still in power)

You could tell just from the make-up of Thugs ‘R Us that Israel would never get fair play with this bunch.¬† Still, it was shocking to read the following Fox News report on March 24, 2016 from the United Nations:

From the palatial Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room of the Palace of Nations, some of the great human rights violators in history meet to condemn Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East. (Credit: United Nations)
From the palatial Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room of the Palace of Nations, some of the great human rights violators in history meet to condemn Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East. (Credit: United Nations)

“On March 24, 2016, the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) wrapped up its annual meeting in New York by condemning only one country for violating women‚Äôs rights anywhere on the planet ‚Äď Israel, for violating the rights of Palestinian women.¬†

On the same day, the U.N. Human Rights Council concluded its month-long session in Geneva by condemning Israel five times more than any other of the 192 UN member states.

There were five Council resolutions on Israel.¬† One each on the likes of hellish countries like Syria, North Korea and Iran.¬† Libya got an offer of ‚Äútechnical assistance.‚Ä̬† And countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia and China were among the 95 percent of states that were never mentioned.” (Emphasis mine)

It makes my blood boil

Again, they are talking about ISRAEL, the one little country in the Middle East of 8 million people, the only democracy in the Middle East?  This same Israel Рwhere you are better off being a woman, a child, a senior, gay, Jewish, a Christian, a Muslim, black or an atheist than in any of the 16 enemy combatant nations that surrounds Her?  Yes, THAT Israel.

It’s outrageous, it’s absurd, and it’s why the United Nations needs to be kicked out of New York and sent packing to one of these Third World crap holes.¬† Maybe President Trump will get the job done.

Elementary School Muslim Thugs – Part 2

Yesterday (Sunday, April 10) we brought you a very shocking story, through our partner blogger Islam Rising, that focused on the allegations of Muslim kids from Syrian families – as young as Grade 3 – that were attacking other children in a Halifax elementary schoolyard with chains, making hand gestures of decapitation and shouting pro-Islamic statements.

It was without a doubt one of the most-read stories we have ever had on the Calling Out Community site – in fact the #3 most-read story of all time out of more than 110 posts in the last year. We are particularly proud of the fact that we picked up on this story up to half a day before much bigger players did so.

The reactions were mostly favourable, minus that of one Muslim woman who had the gall to blame the reaction of the paper, after pulling the story without warning, as being the result of “poor journalism practices“:

image

You were partly correct. There is a newspaper strike into its 80+ day, and the article would have been written by a freelance author. However, that in no way affected the decisions made, nor was the writing of the article in any way the issue – it was the resulting editorial decisions (and accusations made against concerned citizens like ourselves) that we are now quite FURIOUS BEYOND WORDS ABOUT, and we are going to get even.

The paper posted a very revealing response today to the backlash created by stories like ours. What was offered was perhaps the worst piece of yellow journalism CRAP, which they considered their justification for retracting the story:

untitledCHRONICLE HERALD | PUBLISHED APRIL 8, 2016 – 8:01PM | UPDATED APRIL 11, 2016 – 9:01PM

The Chronicle Herald published a story Saturday that has drawn the wrath of many of our readers, particularly online.

It was based on two parents’ allegations of physical bullying and threatening behaviour by some of the children who recently arrived with refugee families.

The school cited in the article, Chebucto Heights Elementary, has had an influx of new students in recent weeks.

The story quoted two mothers who didn’t want their names used for fear of reprisals against them or their children. A third person, a grandparent, was interviewed and had similar concerns.

Since the article ran, another family has contacted us with a similar complaint.

Bullying is a sensitive subject. So is the integration of newcomers, particularly those who have faced challenges, even trauma, on their way here.

Our story was incomplete and insufficiently corroborated, given the serious nature of the allegations.

Readers also rightly pointed out that the headline ‚ÄėParents worried over school kids‚Äô brutality‚Äô was unfortunate. Using the word brutality to describe children, particularly of an identifiable cultural group, is problematic.

Reaction to the story was all over the map, from thoughtful to downright scary.

Many journalists called publishing the story irresponsible. Some parents weighed in on social media on the need for better discipline and more supports to help newcomers in our schools.

Appallingly, anti-Muslim groups with words like ‚Äėcrusade‚Äô and ‚Äėjihad‚Äô in their names started sharing the article.

We pulled it from our website.

Since then, some readers have contacted us to object to the article’s removal.

Our concern is about more than reaction.

Social media is not a great place for the cautious, well-considered examination of problems. A newspaper ought to be. We should have done better and we will.

We’ll start by asking more questions and getting more answers.

Unbelievable.

Here’s our thoughts – 6 things to take away from this piece:

confidentialApparently, in order for a source to be considered valid to this paper, they have to be publicly named? Is that a joke? One secret informant in 1972 brought down a sitting President (Nixon), sent several to jail, and earned the journalists a Pulitzer Prize after the Watergate scandal. Yet, apparently this paper thinks abused kids, terrified by little Islamic thugs already, need to also be exposed publicly for the audacity of criticizing the Muslim community.

images821ROVCJThe little Islamic thugs remain free and clear. There even seems to be some justification for their behavior. Notice the soft language used to describe them: they are called ‘newcomers’, ‘some of the children who recently arrived with refugee families’, ‘those who have faced challenges, even trauma, on their way here.’ Oh BOO HOO, poor little Mohamed. Don’t be upset that he choked your kid with a chain around his neck – cause he’s had a rough go. Right, and there are no abused kids in Halifax homes already? They should just shut up and take it?

childabuseApparently two different families can complain about the same thing and it’s still not enough. WHOA!  Wait a minute – but isn’t the paper now admitting that parents or grandparents have come forward now from four different families with the same story? How many kids have to come forward before its considered a story? What’s your child abuse minimum, Halifax Chronicle Herald?  (Oh yes, by the way Herald Chronicle,  ignoring or worse, even justifying child on child attacks is a form of abuse too).

These kids are ISIS soldiers - brutality can be a learned behaviour at any age.
These kids are ISIS soldiers – brutality can be a learned behaviour at any age.

“Using the word ‘brutality’ to describe children, particularly of an identifiable cultural group, is problematic.”  Wow, I guess the cultural elite in Halifax don’t get out much.  Perhaps it’s best we don’t tell the sensitive little darlings at this paper that there are videos on YouTube of Palestinian 3 year olds singing “death to Israel” songs (yes, there actually are songs) while brandishing knives.  Little ISIS soldiers under 10 years of age are slicing people’s heads off in other video horrors.  Kids can be brutal if they are taught to be.   But apparently in Halifax, it’s not considered ‘brutality’ when kids choke other kids in Grade 3 with chains. An autistic kid is threatened with decapitation but that’s not brutal? Children are even told that “Muslims will conquer the world”.  And yet you believe that the only truly problematic part of this story is the fact that some thinking people called it “brutality”?

thought-police-e1369141340932“Appallingly, anti-Muslim groups with words like ‚Äėcrusade‚Äô and ‚Äėjihad‚Äô in their names started sharing the article.” And that is the reason, dear friends, why a newspaper deleted its own stories from its own site.  Because someone was sharing it.  Sorry, is that not a newspaper’s actual REASON FOR EXISTENCE?  And is it in fact not the ULTIMATE MARKETING PLAN of most news media outlets today to boldly share controversial stories without compromise, and to have people you don’t even like or agree with share that story with others?

We used to call that “promotion“.  Are left-wing media outlets today so insecure about their messages that they now try to decide who gets to even read them One wonders what the editors of this paper would do if they knew that people actually use their newspaper to dry newly-washed windows, soak up any urine the new puppy might dribble out, cover the bottom of the bird cage, or to use as lightweight packing material for boxing up shiome nuts.  My God, the Halifax paper would fold in a week (pardon the pun).  Let’s keep these revelations our little secret – the poor ‘journalistic’ darlings are apparently dealing with enough.

Protecting parents and their kids with warnings about a real threat to their safety is not relevant, I guess – nor apparently is it the lack of this protection on an elementary school playground  the fact that the editors found to be most appalling.

Protecting Muslim reputations is paramount, no matter what the cost to  journalistic integrity or credibility. Clearly Muslims forced them to take the story down – otherwise this newspaper just provided us with a copy of their suicide note.

So, on behalf of the people of Halifax who have depended on you for generations to tell the truth, the whole truth (the W-5 who, what, when, where, why and how), we ask this question of the editors:

Herald Chronicle,  you bluntly stopped readers from being able to access a controversial story on your site, simply because some folks had the audacity to share it.  Therefore, can you now define for us going forward – what the hell is your REASON FOR CONTINUED EXISTENCE?

This is an truly and incredibly bad example of total CENSORSHIP – from a newspaper of all places.  And we call “B.S.” on this nonsense about an identified “anti-Islamic’ group who would have the word Jihad in their name.  AND SO WHAT IF THEY DO? They have every right to free speech in this country, which one would have thought a newspaper would defend loudly and long.  The Herald-Chronicle has lost their way in this 80 day journalist’s strike I guess, as now they believe they are our den mother or hall monitor, not the provider of the news?

How people use the information a newspaper provides is quite frankly not a journalist’s main concern nor actually any of their business – telling the true story is their only task.

Since when does this paper suddenly feel the need to protect Islamic groups over all others?  How did Muslims suddenly manage to become the victims in this story – or in general?  We’re pre-supposing that anti-Israeli or pro-BDS groups can share this newspaper’s articles to their hearts content, and such actions won’t trigger story retractions from this site, because the stories themselves are often anti-Israel or pro-BDS.

Spect_Revolt_Elites_Anton-EmdinIt was hard to pick a winner, but in the end, we chose this sentence as our ultimate lame-ass  favorite: “Social media is not a great place for the cautious, well-considered examination of problems. A newspaper ought to be. We should have done better and we will”.

Well guess what ladies and gentleman? Apparently you’re too stupid to figure this stuff out yourself. Don’t be talking around the water cooler or your Twitter feed about thinge. The cultural elite will tell you exactly how to think.

Here’s our message to the Chronicle Herald – SCREW OFF. No one asked the you to give a “cautious well-considered examination” of anything. Tell the damn story – who, what, when, where and why. We can figure out what it means for us, thanks just the same.

FINAL WORD

imageFolks, forget what these idiots have to say. They gave up their right to be heard when they deleted their story.

If you want to know what’s really going on with this story, checkout the Rebel Media video. They have boots on the ground in Halifax and they have uncovered a shocking story that the cultural elite – and the Liberals – don’t want you to know. What else is new.

On Saturday, April 9, the Halifax Chronicle Herald¬†published a very provocative story with the title “Parents worried over school kids‚Äô brutality at Chebucto Heights Elementary School.”. The story, along with the rest of the Saturday paper, was distributed¬†to 72,000 homes that morning, according to 2014 circulation stats.

But today, just one day later, you will find the following, when you attempt to view the story on their website:

If you didn’t or couldn’t read the retraction statement, we’ve taken the liberty to reprint it:

This story has been removed. ¬†Bullying is a sensitive subject. ¬†So is the integration of newcomers, particularly those who have faced challenges, even trauma, on their way here. ¬†Our story was incomplete. ¬†More work needs to be done and will be done before the story is republished. ¬†We should have done better and we will.”

If I were this reporter, I would sue. ¬†This is lamest thing we have ever read. ¬†“Bullying is a sensitive subject” – yah WE KNOW. ¬†That’s why we need to actually read about it – especially when the article alleged that¬†it’s happening on¬†elementary school property, at the hands of¬†Grade¬†3¬†Islamic thugs using chains to choke other kids, utilizing hand signals to signify cutting off their heads and announcing that Muslims are gonna conquer the world.

img_7082We especially need to read about it when it’s perpetrated by these so-called¬†Syrian “refugees” that our Prime Minister is paying a fortune from our national piggy bank to ram down our throats. Seemingly almost desperate to swamp us with these¬†Third World backwater-and-rape-culture suspects, Trudeau even ordered the selling off our remaining gold reserve¬†to pay for¬†their golden tickets to Canada, and our abundant social welfare programs.

We at Islam Rising (as well our hosts the Calling out Community) don’t care what their reasons were – the Chronicle Herald has demonstrated a gross lack of journalistic integrity with this story, and we’re all about shaming them for it today.¬†¬†If¬†the facts were wrong or the story was made up, then simply state that to the readers. ¬†Don’t papers fact-check stories, especially ones that are this explosive, before¬†they go to print?

This “incomplete story” nonsense, framed with references to “bullying” and “integration of newcomers”, says to us that they in fact¬†were also¬†bullied by¬†possibly the same Muslim community to shut up.

img_7080Staff at the Charlie Hebdo newspaper in Paris criticized Islam and were brutally slaughtered for it. Therefore, excuse us if we refuse to tolerate the bullying of our Canadian media by these Islamic hordes.

To be sure, there won’t be a republished story. ¬†They hope in 2 days you’ll forget all about it. ¬†We’re gonna make sure that doesn’t happen. So here now is the original story in its entirety.¬† The editors at the Chronicle Herald may have been scared into silence. The same knee jerk reaction/retraction after bullying will not be duplicated here. ¬†Enjoy.

img_7078HALIFAX ‚ÄĒ Concerned parents are reporting incidents of violence by refugee students at Chebucto Heights Elementary School.

Reports of students choking, pushing, slapping and verbally abusing their fellow classmates are causing parents to worry about the school’s disciplinary action.

‚ÄúThere has always been some fighting and bickering going on at the school but never to this degree,‚ÄĚ said Missy, the mother of two children who attend Chebucto Heights. She asked to be referred to by her nickname for this story.

Missy said her daughter, who is in Grade 3, was choked on Monday and Thursday last week by two refugee boys. A chain was used on both occasions, but she cannot confirm the size or strength of the chain. She said one boy yelled ‚ÄúMuslims rule the world‚ÄĚ while choking her daughter. School staff intervened, but to her knowledge, the students were not disciplined further.

According to the Halifax Regional School Board, refugees began registering at Chebucto Heights, located in the Cowie Hill neighbourhood of Halifax, in mid-February.

School board spokesman Doug Hadley said, as of last week, there are currently 252 refugee students enrolled in the region, with another 71 waiting on settlement of permanent housing.

Missy’s son, who is in Grade 5, has also been the subject of rough play on the soccer field. During games, refugee students reportedly take their thumb and slide it across their neck from left to right while staring into the eyes of their competitor; imitating the slicing of the throat.

Missy said the school’s response to this and other on-field violence was to cancel intramurals and soccer. But cancelling of recreational activity is not beneficial to students like Missy’s son who has ADHD and relies heavily on physical activity.

‚ÄúSoccer is what gets my son through the day,‚ÄĚ she said.

When asked about the violence at Chebucto Heights, Hadley said he couldn’t confirm whether an individual student had been involved in any behaviour that broke the board’s code of conduct.

He said there‚Äôs no connection between the cancellation of extracurricular activities and any violent behaviour. ‚ÄúThere‚Äôs a term teacher at Chebucto Heights that is finished their term in the next week or so, and they just finished the unit on soccer,‚ÄĚ he said. Intramurals will resume in May when the next term teacher begins.

Another mother, who asked not to be named, said her daughter was slapped after she and a classmate disagreed in the schoolyard. Her daughter reported the incident to her teacher.

‚ÄúThe school didn‚Äôt even call me to let me know.‚ÄĚ

She called and left a message, but said no one has returned her call. She said her daughter begs not to go to school because of the persistent bullying.

A language barrier could be a factor. Many refugee families do not speak English and integrating students into a primarily English speaking environment is bound to cause a few problems.

Missy suggests having an interpreter on staff to help new students understand curriculum or the reason for disciplinary action. ‚ÄúI‚Äôm all for the transition,‚ÄĚ said Missy.

‚ÄúI just think there should be people in the school to help and guide them.‚ÄĚ

The school board says there are currently 19.5 English as a second language teachers working in regional schools. ‚ÄúWe have a long history of welcoming newcomers all over the world to Nova Scotia,‚ÄĚ said Hadley. He encourages an open stream of communication between the school staff, students and parents.

‚ÄúIt doesn‚Äôt matter if the student is new to Canada or if they have been in school for many years in our system,‚ÄĚ said Hadley. ‚ÄúSchools would address it no matter who the child is the same way.”

So media tells a shocker that could bring a very real warning about danger to our kids Рand then just deletes it- most likely after pressure from the Islamic community.  Now, greater pressure from Canadians should be levelled on these editors for making this cowardly decision to pull this story.  This relates to real children in a real Canadian schools who have been attacked and whose very lives have been threatened by real Islamic thugs.

'Oddly enough, I feel offended...'
‘Oddly enough, I feel offended…’

A question to ponder:  if the grade 3 children in this family so easily perpetrate these crimes, imagine what the parents who raised them are like?

Our take on it? Round up the families of every child who instigated this violence and send them all back where they came from.

Don’t give us the “civil society / light shining on a hill” crap either. ¬†This is not redeemable behaviour – and if we allow it to continue we won’t have a civil society anymore. ¬†

These kids are¬†programmed to hate from birth, and their parents may be here to cause us harm. Kids that age don’t pick up “Muslims will rule the world” on Sesame Street.

To¬†our Prime Minister @Justintrudeau: At least for one day in your tumultuous reign and trust-fund-privileged life, can you cut the crap, drop the drama lessons, put the politics aside, grab some balls (maybe your “wife” will let you borrow hers) and do what’s right for Canada.

At least for one day.

Friday the 13th “Acts of War”

Once again, radical Islamic terrorists have struck at the heart of France – the city of Paris – and with devastating results.

The scenes were heartbreaking, as France faced its most deadly assault since the Second World War on Friday the 13th (November 2015).  With 129 dead and over 350 injured, it follows only ten months after three terrorist attacks in the French capital took the lives of 17 people.

images2ZPARCV8French President Francois Hollande ¬†condemned the attack as an “act of war” and vowed that France “will be merciless toward the barbarians of Islamic State group.”

An emergency security meeting was called to plan the French government’s response, and upon completion, Hollande declared three days of national mourning and raised France’s security to its highest level. In a very blunt statement, the French¬†President declared:

“ISIS is a terrorist army … a jihadist army, against France, against the values that we defend everywhere in the world, against what we are: A free country that means something to the whole planet.”

He vowed to show “no mercy” to ISIS militants – and earlier today (Sunday, November 15), CNN broke the news at 1:23 PM that in fact he had already kept his word:

The French Ministry of Defense has announced what it called a major bombardment of Raqqa, Syria, an ISIS stronghold.

In one hour Sunday there were at least 20 airstrikes on the city, according to both a pro-ISIS news agency and the activist group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently.

1086023_630x354The French have not backed down from the war rhetoric Рthey have in fact launched a large-scale military operation in response.  Which brings me to a very important point regarding the North American response to this tragedy.

Article 5 of the Charter of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, ratified on April 4, 1949 states:

Article 5

NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium
NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium

The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security.

Graeme MacKay, The Hamilton Spectator - Tuesday October 7, 2014 ISIS mission reveals Liberal divide When Justin Trudeau leads the Liberal Party of Canada Monday in opposing a Canadian military mission against ISIS in Iraq, he will do so against the better judgment of many of his party√ēs grandees, who between them have influenced Canada√ēs military response to global conflicts, from Rwanda and Kosovo to Afghanistan and previous wars in Iraq. The genocidal jihadists, including Canadians and other Westerners, who fight under the banner of ISIS √íhave to be whacked, and whacked good,√ď Lloyd Axworthy, a former Liberal foreign affairs minister who aimed to put √íhuman security√ď at the heart of foreign affairs, said on CTV last week. √íIf you really want to stop them, you√ēre going to have to give a full-court press.√ď He was not alone in supporting the action Mr. Trudeau has vowed to reject, or in undermining the leader√ēs rhetoric before he used it. Former interim Liberal leader Bob Rae, for example, rejected the comparison, later made by Mr. Trudeau, to the √ífiasco√ď of the 2003 Iraq War. Former Liberal Senator Rom¬éo Dallaire dismissed a campaign of air strikes without ground troops as pointless, and former Liberal cabinet minister Ujjal Dosanjh calling for √írobust√ď Canadian military action. All these comments were made before Mr. Trudeau vowed to oppose the government motion for the ISIS mission. But by accusing Prime Minister Stephen Harper of using √íoverheated and moralistic rhetoric √Č to justify a war,√ď Mr. Trudeau has chosen a strategy that is likely to colour his political fortunes for months to come. And by favouring purely humanitarian action over military force, Mr. Trudeau seems to have broken with many of the party√ēs eminences √Ď if such a rift is already apparent, it could well go deeper. Graeme MacKay, The Hamilton Spectator – Tuesday October 7, 2014

In one of his first official acts as Prime Minister, Prime Minister Trudeau called his American counterpart and philosophical ally, President Barack Obama.¬†¬†Trudeau advised the media that, during the October 23¬†phone call, he iterated Canada’s intent to pull our CF-18s out of the airstrike program against ISIS.¬† At the time, the leftwing patted its own back in self-congratulation.

That decision was meant to be ideological, and to show that Canada doesn’t get pushed around by the U.S.¬† Well, at least we’ll assume those were the goals, because frankly it just came across as stupid as hell.¬† ISIS is a known threat to Canada, has even stated previously that they will kill Canadians in their own bedrooms.¬† This incredibly immature Prime Minister, and equally pacifist Cabinet and party, honestly believes that if they just back off of ISIS, they will stop threatening us.¬† Again, stupid as hell.

Even more astounding than the government’s outrageous backtrack on international commitments and the security of Canadians is the Canadian news media’s response to it, in light of France’s current nightmare scenario. They seem incredulous – even openly stating their opposition – to Trudeau’s announced decision to continue with his plans to resettle refugees and pull our jet fighters from the fight with ISIS.¬† Some comments include:

  • Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, a Liberal, reiterated his opposition to Trudeau‚Äôs position to shut down the combat mission even as he told reporters that Canada should not step back from its commitment to accept Syrian refugees.¬† ‚ÄúThe democratic world is at war,‚ÄĚ Couillard told reporters. ‚ÄúIt is naive to think that we are not facing a state of war, different from the wars we have known but equally threatening.‚ÄĚ
  • Rona Ambrose visits a memorial in Paris to the terrorist victims from the Friday the 13th attacks.

“The fight against ISIS requires a strong humanitarian response, but also a¬†military response,”¬†Rona Ambrose, Leader of the Opposition, told reporters¬†Saturday. “It’s important that we remain resolute and support our allies.” Ambrose said Prime¬†Minister¬†Justin¬†Trudeau¬†will have the full support of the Official Opposition if he chooses to¬†reverse his position on Canada’s role in the¬†airstrikes.(CBC

Canada’s current government, under Prime Minister Trudeau, has absolutely no right to unilaterally ¬†pull out of NATO obligations – the organization has protected the nations of the North Atlantic for 67 years.

The Friday the 13th attacks by ISIS/ISIL, unlike any other terrorist attacks seen on a large scale in recent history, were a coordinated effort by a Sunni Muslim jihadist terrorist group that is in fact an army Рwith tanks, armed personnel carriers, rocket launchers and many other sophisticated weapons, as well as an estimated 20,000 troops, according to the Telegraph.

How do they afford to arm themselves?  The Foreign Policy site reported:

ISIS captured many tanks from the Iraqi army, including the relatively modern Soviet T-72, of which it may have as many as 10.
ISIS captured many tanks from the Iraqi army, including the relatively modern Soviet T-72, of which it may have as many as 10.

Much of the Islamic State’s arms and ammunition were captured on the battlefield, but intelligence reports have suggested that the group’s income from oil sales and other sources is high enough to finance purchases of additional weapons directly from the companies and dealers that routinely profit from strife in the Middle East.

While the complete list of countries is unknown, Newsweek stated on September 16 that the United States, Russia, France, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Israel and Iran are all fighting ISIS.¬† Canada wasn’t mentioned I guess in error.

ISIS territory mapped (The Economist, June 2015)
ISIS territory mapped (The Economist, June 2015)

Unlike Al Qaeda, Boko Haram or any other previously seen terrorist group, ISIS has a set geographic area of the world in which they are headquartered and operate – or more appropriately to state, which they have majority “control” over.

Territory is both being conquered and lost by ISIS on an almost daily basis. In fact, the venerable New York Times reported, on the morning of Friday the 13th, that several factions of Kurdish and Yazidi fighters had just retaken the city of Sinjar from ISIS fighters.

Satellite map showing the first day of fighting over the city of Sinjar, which Kurdish forces retook from ISIS on November 13. (Credit: Planet Labs)

They have a “capital city” of sorts – in Raqqa, Syria – which is exactly where French fighter pilots have attacked just today.

I’ve had it with President Obama and his pacifist BS. I’ve had it with “Prime Minister” Trudeau and his weak, emasculated, pathetic (I’m trying not to swear so this’ll have to do) world philosophy.

As my beloved home-away-from-home Paris was burned, bombed and blown up, over 350 hundred were rushed to hospitals, and 129 were driven to the morgue, in a series of coordinated attacks on Friday the 13th (not likely a coincidental date) I grew angry enough watching the news clips to fly over there, grab a gun and start defending her.

What did the two pathetic leftwing pantywaists have to say? Obama called it an “attack on humanity” – which basically dismissed it from being an attack on a sovereign nation like France, so he could cover his bases possibly if the NATO Charter was invoked; or an attack on a Western power, because frankly this socialist doesn’t give a damn about the West, including his own country.¬† But at least the US is still fighting ISIS regardless.

Justin-TrudeauPrime Minister Justin Trudeau offered ‚Äúall of Canada‚Äôs support‚ÄĚ to France on Friday night in the wake of ‚Äúdeeply worrying‚ÄĚ terrorist attacks.

ALL of our support? That doesn’t include our military obviously, as he just ordered them out of the fight against ISIS, and confirmed 24 hours ago that, regardless of the horror played out Paris, that the stupidity would continue.

Trudeau is giving lip service to mass murder. We should be ashamed of this asshole. I know I am.¬† It wasn’t an attack on humanity – it was an attack on a Western power, the second in France alone in 10 months. Both were horrific events that brought the world to a standstill.

I’m sorry to remind both of you pantywaists this, but France is a member of NATO. French President Hollande has declared the Friday the 13th terrorist attacks an ACT OF WAR. Under the NATO Charter,¬† both Canada and the United States may¬†have a legal responsibility to come to the aid of a member nation when attacked in an act of war.

The Jerusalem Post has asked the question – will France invoke Article 5 of the NATO Charter, as NATO did after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.¬† The Post doesn’t think France will actually do it, however.

Regardless, how dare¬†you violate a 67-year old international accord for your own ideological purposes? This must be discussed by the people and/or the Parliament of Canada.¬† Canada deserves better leadership than this.¬† We are pulling out of Syria only because air strikes were started under the Conservatives.¬† Would you have pulled out of D-Day for the same reasons?¬† The Korean War?¬† We think you would –¬†which is why we will never trust you, nor acknowledge you as our Prime Minister.¬† You are a coward, a sham leader, and the global village idiot.

Pollsters and Pundits – Well-Paid and Often Wrong

by Calling Out Community, Posted October 18, 2015. Updated January 2, 2016,

images

Take heart, Conservative voters!  In this final weekend before Election Day, the conclusion of the longest election campaign in Canadian history, the pollsters are once again coronating the selfie-loving clown Justin Trudeau as our next Prime Minister.  But the pollsters are not always right Рin fact, sometimes they are both incorrect and actually guilty of attempting to rig the election results.

In what seems like a constant occurrence lately, we hear of election after election where a small or big “C” conservative in power didn’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell of winning his/her seat. ¬†Yet on election night, this candidate has some massive revival amongst voters, and end up winning some nonsensically unbalanced, TKO, majority-seat victory, much to the shock and horror of the pollsters, and the media outlets depending on their data to be accurate.

We could understand it if the win fell inside of the +/- for that survey or exit poll ¬†– but they don’t. ¬†Often it’s so blatantly obvious that the pollsters and pundits are attempting to hijack the election, get the leftist candidate in of their choice, while discounting the opposing candidates.

It’s easy enough to do. ¬†You just have to read a bit more background info into the polling method. ¬†I worked my way through 4 years of college by working for a market research firm, and learned quickly that you can make polling data say whatever you want:

  • What question did they ask? ¬†Was it a leading question – for example, “Albertans are notorious red necks. John Doe (Conservative) is an Albertan. ¬†Do you think John Doe shares your values?” ¬†Many might say “no, he sure doesn’t”, assuming he’s a redneck from the leading question – even though John Doe has 6 university degrees and only dressed up once as a redneck…for Hallowe’en. ¬†That particular poll respondent is also obviously completely out of touch with who John Doe is – especially if all they know of¬†him they learned from the pollster’s question!
  • Where did the polling take place? For example, if you wanted to push for Liberals to look good, do all the phone survey work in traditionally Liberal ridings. ¬†Don’t tell me that doesn’t happen, because it often does.

Damaged professional ethics and possible illegalities aside, the pollsters who participate in these hijinks apparently don’t have any self-respect or pride in their career path, or they would try to be as accurate as possible.¬†¬†And why is it that they only seem to be REALLY wrong when the person happens to be a conservative?

MAY3184-1024x701While doing the Sunday talk show circuit, commentators and left-wing political “experts” (aka operatives for the Democrats in the U.S or Liberals / NDP in Canada) will official crown their candidate the heir apparent, and soon thereafter give the polling numbers that clearly back up their original hypothesis. ¬†Sounds logical at first.

Then comes Election Day – and all day long the same looney left dipsticks fill the 24-hour news cycle with “exit polling” to confirm again their anointed one is set to win. ¬†Who exactly did they poll and where? ¬†Then the polls close, and we learn (much to NO ONE’s surprise but these ‘experts’) ¬†the main conservative¬†contender wiped them off the map – again, usually a small or big “C” conservative.

Coincidence?  Not even remotely.

Harper, Trudeau or Mulcair – who will lead now?

The Canadian federal election is tomorrow РMonday, October 19.  It has been a very long campaign Рso long in fact, that both Justin Trudeau (Liberal Рtwice in fact!) and Thomas Mulcair (NDP) have been anointed the new Prime Minister of Canada, even though their polling data showed that the Conservatives were in fact ahead of both parties at the time.

Don’t let the pollsters discourage you from voting.¬† Yes, they have Justin Trudeau 6 points ahead – and it suspiciously came out of nowhere. ¬†This is the same guy that a month ago was trailing in 3rd place.¬† What exactly has he said or done in the last few months to look better, sound better, or be better as a leader.¬† NOTHING.¬† So once again, they are using polling method foolishness to try to rig an election and get a win for their guy.

I am praying, as are many people, that Canadians are not stupid enough to vote for Justin Trudeau’s party.¬† He is a mindless bimbo who keeps putting his foot in his mouth everywhere he goes.¬† He doesn’t deserve to be Prime Minister because people like his hair, or because his dad was.¬† Only the most qualified should lead, and that will continue to be Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

harper_cp_9376962Now, pollsters are pulling out this nonsense that the vast majority of people in Canada want “change”.¬† I’d like to see the question that was asked for that one – as I don’t believe Canadians are bored with success. ¬†Desperate for a win, the¬†Liberals and NDP even manufactured a recession at the beginning¬†of the campaign, which quickly blew up in their faces.¬† These leftwing jackasses will do anything to try to win.¬† You must not let them.¬† DO not stay home voteless on election day – it could be Canada’s most important election.

The future of our nation depends on you.  On Monday, VOTE CONSERVATIVE.

Trudeau – Stop Defending Terrorists

by Calling Out Community, Posted October 5, 2015

Justin-TrudeauJustin Trudeau may be a great many things – ¬†but “bright” and “logical” are not attributed to this trust-fund idiot.

The Toronto Sun gives us the overview of our story on September 30:

According to Justin Trudeau, ‚Äúthe Liberal Party believes that terrorists should get to keep their Canadian citizenship.”

The reason? Trudeau says: ‚ÄúBecause I do.‚ÄĚ

Trudeau gave a speech in Winnipeg earlier this year where he discussed the Conservative attack ads against him declaring he was soft on terrorism.

He told the audience he believes a Canadian is a Canadian, no matter where they were born or what kind of heinous crimes they commit.

Trudeau went on to say he thinks it‚Äôs ‚Äúvery scary‚ÄĚ that the government gets to decide if you can be a Canadian citizen if you were born in another country.

Who should decide this then? The local butcher? An archbishop? I thought that the government of a country seems the most LOGICAL choice to decide if a person should keep their citizenship or not.

Zakaria Amara, Toronto 18 terrorist mastermind
Zakaria Amara, Toronto 18 terrorist mastermind

Trudeau was of course reacting to the Conservative government’s letter September 26 sent to Zakaria Amara (a mastermind of the Toronto 18 terrorist plot) in the Quebec penitentiary where is he serving a life sentence, advising him that he is no longer a Canadian. He still holds citizenship in Jordan and could be deported there following his release from prison.

Let’s quickly recap what the Toronto 18 had planned to do to Canadians. They were accused of planning to detonate fertilizer truck bombs through the city of Toronto, to open fire in crowded areas, and to storm the Canadian Broadcasting Centre, the Canadian Parliament building, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) headquarters, and the parliamentary Peace Tower to take hostages and to behead the Prime Minister and other leaders.

Should a man be Prime Minister of Canada if he defends a monster who wants to BEHEAD the Prime Minister of Canada?
Trudeau is stupid as hell.

A poll conducted October 6 asked the question:

“CANADIAN CITIZENS, WHO ARE ALSO CITIZENS OF ANOTHER COUNTRY, WHO ARE CONVICTED OF TERRORISM OR TAKINGUP ARMS AGAINST CANADA SHOULD BE STRIPPED OF THEIR CITIZENSHIP AND DEPORTED WHEN THEY GET OUT OF PRISON. AGREE OR DISAGREE?”

A stunning 84% agreed with the statement, 69% strongly. Trudeau is once again on the wrong side of history and Canadians’ views, on this one. That high of a number must include Liberals, NDP and even immigrants themselves!

Helmut Oberlander, Nazi interpreter who was stripped of his Canadian citizenship.
Helmut Oberlander, Nazi interpreter who was stripped of his Canadian citizenship.

But it gets more bizarre. After the Munk Debate on Foreign Policy on October 15, Rebel Media asked Justin Trudeau what he thought then about stripping Nazi war criminals of their dual citizenship – which we did decades ago. In fact, we have stripped 50 people of their citizenship over the decades – this is hardly a new idea.

Trudeau’s response?:

Revocation of citizenship can and should happen in situations where you became a Canadian citizenship under false pretenses…such as lying on their paperwork.”

Are you KIDDING ME? Lying on paperwork is worse than joining a foreign army plotting to destroy us? And sorry, I guess I misunderstood the situation – here I thought we threw the Nazi jackasses out of out of our beloved Canada and stripped them of their citizenships because:

  • They murdered 6 million Jews in gas chambers, shooting galleries and bonfires throughout Europe;
  • They exterminated a further 5 million people in concentration camps including gays, gypsies, political prisoners and others
  • A¬†total of 50 million victims across Europe, Africa and Asia resulted from World War II, all of which was Hitler’s fault to begin with.

On election day, we cannot allow this schmuck Trudeau to govern Canada – he’s obviously too stupid . Vote CONSERVATIVE.

Election 2015 (Week 1): Bring It On!

by Calling Out Community, Posted August 10, 2015
For the week of August 2-8, 2015

Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Ottawa, after calling the election last Sunday. (Credit: The Canadian Press)

Last Sunday, August 2, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper called what some have calculated will be the longest election campaign in Canadian history, running 11 weeks (78 days) and culminating in the Monday, October 19 federal election.

At¬†316 km2, my home city of Surrey is the largest of the 24 municipalities making up Metro Vancouver, and is growing by more than 1,000/month, soon to overtake Vancouver as Western Canada’s largest city. As a result, all of Surrey’s ridings were recently redrawn, with the addition of one new riding. ¬†My own riding has been resized and renamed Surrey Centre (formerly Surrey North). Across BC, there are 6 brand new seats (we have a total of 42 now), making us one of the biggest¬†battlegrounds in Canada for this federal election, along with Ontario and Alberta.

IMG_0117I’m so happy to see that the Conservative Party in my riding is clearly ready for that battle, having nominated a truly stellar candidate 3 months ago (May 3) – Mr. SUCHA¬†THIND. Lawn signs are already popping up from their campaign all over the city.

Mr. Thind’s life story gives¬†a face to the¬†Canadian Dream at its best,¬†reminding us how and by whom this fantastic country was founded and built. As a young university graduate, Mr. Thind¬†immigrated to Canada in his 20s from India to start a new life for his family here, working in several local businesses when he first arrived.

Then, over 20 years ago, he founded Mainland Aluminum in Surrey, an aluminum railing business. He can be proud of his mentorship of an untold number of other business leaders in the area for decades, as well as being a strong employer for the region ever since.

In comparison, Mr.Jasbir Sandhu, our current NDP Member of Parliament, has done such an (cough) admirable job – I actually had to do a Google search to remind myself again who my MP was – and as you can see from my blog, I do tend to keep in touch with what’s going on out there.

Sandhu was elected first in 2011 on the “orange wave” (which I think crested years ago) of NDP popularity – when all kinds of less-than-stellar NDP candidates were swept into the role of Official Opposition under the leadership of the late Jack Layton – not because they were any good, but because the Liberal leader¬†Michael Ignatieff was so bad.¬† Thomas Mulcair – not much better.¬† And it wasn’t a vote against the Conservatives either at the time¬†– the party won their first majority government in that election.

Sandhu has worked as a “business analyst, a customs officer, a self-employed building contractor, a truck driver, taxi driver and factory worker” according to his site, and a “program manager” (whatever that involves) for 15 years at the Justice Institute. Wow – does that ever sound random.¬† I’m not seeing what makes him particularly quailified to represent me in Ottawa, and I say that when he’s actually already done the job for the last 4 years.¬† Thus I’ll be working my butt off to avoid a repeat performance.

As an MP, his website says he “advocated for his constituents by bringing attention to the issues facing students, seniors and veterans, and to challenges of the immigration system.” That’s a joke, right? As a constituency manager for an Alberta MLA for 3.5 years, I can say without hesitation that he just gave the basic job description of EVERY Member of Parliament. Big deal.

NDPPolls_600pxSandhu’s campaign site then states:

  • He has introduced legislation to restore federal protection for Bear Creek“. ¬†Bill C-538, An Act to amend the Navigable Waters Protection Act (Bear Creek) was introduced for First Reading June 16, 2013. On October 16, 2013 it was reinstated from the 1st to 2nd sessions of the 41st Parliament – which is where it died.¬† FAIL
  • “[He introduced legislation] to provide funding for successful youth gang prevention programs”.¬†¬†Private Members Bill M-407, Youth gang prevention¬†was¬†“placed in the¬†order of precedence” on June 18, 2015. after beomg resinstated from a previous session of Parliament on October 16, 2013.¬† After two years, this is how far it’s gotten?¬† His own site has a page entitled: “Let’s make youth gang prevention a priority”.¬† Try to navigate to that page, however, and you get a “404 – Page Not Found” error in giant letters.¬†SOME PRIORITY – FAIL.
  • Sandhu also sponsored a motion demanding an official apology for the Komagata Maru tragedy.¬† May 28, 2012 he introduced a motion in the House. On August 3, 2008, Prime Minister Stephen Harper appeared at the Ghadri Babiyan Da Mela (festival) in Surrey, B.C., to issue an apology. People there were upset it wasn’t done in Parliament, but Jason Kenney stated the P.M. wasn’t going to repeat himself.¬† End of that situation.¬† FAIL

For those Conservatives who are ringing their hands about this upcoming election – calm down. I predict a lot more vote splitting on the left this time around with Trudeau as leader. I don’t see that being to the Conservatives detriment – Trudeau looks like a champ against the NDP’s Mulcair, but against our Prime Minister, he looks more like a chimp and a chump.¬† He’s a hack with very little experience and no real talents to speak of, attempting to use Daddy’s name (good or otherwise) to advance his own fortunes.

may3161And as¬†for all the theatrics in the polls, showing Mulcair’s NDP actually leading in the country, a few thoughts. The media had crowned Trudeau the guy to beat in this election a few months ago, remember? That seems to have vanished. Worst case scenario and the NDP wins the election…the polls don’t suggest the Liberals even being the Opposition either.¬† Shows how much the media gets it right.

Desperate to try to convince voters we need a change, the NDP and the Liberals are now pushing the “Canada is in a recession” monologue.¬† Really? Based on what?
– the Globe & Mail‘s Michael Babad wrote in an August 10th Report on Business piece that Canada’s politicians should “stop saying we are in a recession“. The numbers just don’t support that theory yet.
– the unemployment rate, the most important of these signals, sits at 6.8%, and has remained exactly the same for the last six months in a row. According to Statistics Canada, our economy actually added 166,000 jobs since last year at this time. In fact, with over 1.2 million net new jobs since the 2009 recession, Canada’s economy is on the right track. And this despite the bad energy sector numbers of late.

Over the coming weeks of this historically-long campaign, we will profile the four key leaders going into this election (the Bloc will not be given the courtesy, as they are not a national party in any capacity): Prime Minister Harper (Conservative), Justin Trudeau (Liberal), Thomas Mulcair (NDP) and Elizabeth May (Green Party).

We have a clear choice between zero experience and dim ideas (Trudeau), the environmental lobby destroying our economy (May), a socialist with no personality (Mulcair)…

…or a man who has stood tall on the world stage for a decade (Stephen Harper), leading us out of near-Depression in 2009, building our credibility around the world, while making our economy the strongest of G8 members.¬† Three Canadian cities in 2014 made the list¬†of the top 10 most livable cities in the world¬† (Vancouver #3, Toronto #4 and Calgary #5) .

The 2015 report from the Reputation Institute also ranked Canada as the #1 most reputable country in the world, based on a variety of environmental, political, and economic factors – for the third year in a row.

None of this happens by accident.

It’s ‘High’ Time To ‘Get Off the Pot’!

marijuana-justin-trudeau“4/20” has become synonymous with a¬†large, festival-like event in a city near you,¬†held on April 20 annually, culminating with a massive¬†public rally¬†at 4:20 PM that day.

Live bands will¬†play, there will be¬†friends and food aplenty, everyone’s gonna be smiling, will be conducting themselves peacefully and having a good time. ¬†Maybe there will be some lameass politicians (like Justin Trudeau) trying to get in on the love and capitalize on the crowds. ¬†For the most part though, it’s relatively lowkey.

And the focus¬†for this non-stop love fest? ¬†Simply put, this event¬†is hosted for the unfettered adoration,¬†glorification, education and¬†legalization of…

Grass, 420, Ganga, Dope, Herb, Joint, Blunt, Cannabis, Reefer, Mary Jane, Bud, Stinkweed, Nuggets, Tobacco, Hay, Rope, Gangster, Skunk, Boom, Blaze, Ashes, Block, Boo, Broccoli, Burrito, Burnie, Charge.

Yep, you guessed it.  Marijuana.  Pot.  Weed.

DRUGS.

Now, no one is entirely certain why or how April 20 first related to the smoking of pot, but the Huffington Post has proposed some theories. Regardless of its roots, attendees of this¬†nonsensical “non-event”¬†singularly worship at the altar of an¬†illegal drug, at an event that has morphed from humble beginnings into a slick media-friendly production with equal hints of¬†Woodstock, an evangelistic church service,¬†Canada Day BBQ, New Year’s Eve party, political rally, and trade expo, with the script from a bad Cheech and Chong flick interwoven throughout.

But don’t kid yourself – this massive international¬†one-day “peaceful protest” is merely an anarchist “smoke screen” (pardon the pun) for the real agenda: ¬†an increasingly blatant violation of the Criminal Code of Canada; ¬†an open forum for the mockery of family values, social decency, the Law, police, the Church and government officials, all foundational elements of Canadian society but considered¬†a¬†threat to the¬†“progressive” pot agenda; and most important of all, a voice¬†for the¬†legalization¬†of the drug trade¬†in Canada and around the world. ¬†And a voice that has been bolstered by our idiot Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

And it all started in my city of Vancouver, Canada which probably doesn’t surprise you. ¬†After all, a half-baked¬†element of this city has been on the proponent frontline of the so-called War on Drugs for decades (check out our companion article on why we believe that¬†War is already over). ¬†And no one is more half-baked than Marc Emery,¬†the founder of the illegal¬†headshop HEMP BC, which opened on July 7, 1994. ¬†This¬†media-dubbed “Prince of Pot” recalls the first organization of the event in our city (emphasis mine thoughout):

I remember my store manager Danna Rozek and an employee named Cindy Lassu came up to me in early April 1995, and said, ‚ÄúMarc, can we have a 4/20 celebration on April 20th next door in Victory Park?‚ÄĚ I responded, ‚Äúlike, on 4:20 in the afternoon on April 20?‚ÄĚ and they said, ‚ÄúNo, like all day on April 20.‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúWhat will we do all day?‚ÄĚ I asked, and they said ‚ÄúSmoke pot all day and play music.‚ÄĚ I replied, ‚Äúwe can‚Äôt just smoke pot all day. That‚Äôs decadent. [emphasis mine]¬†No, you can‚Äôt do it.‚ÄĚ

Rebuffed, Ms. Rozek then asked, ‚ÄúCan we just go ahead and do it anyway even if you don‚Äôt approve?‚ÄĚ So I said yes and the staff organized the first April 20 celebration I ever heard of, at Victory Square/Park next door.

200 people came that April 20, 1995 and it was a lovely time, with music starting at 2pm and going till 7pm.

IMG_0688In 1996, over 500 people came to Victory Park and smoked pot all day with the event starting at noon.

It was decided that Victory Square was too small for the 1997 April 20 smoke-fest, so the traditional political rally location of the Vancouver Art Gallery, in downtown Vancouver’s financial district, was the site of the 1997 4/20 celebration. Over 1,000 people attended the 1997 Vancouver 4/20 and was widely covered in media and the phenomenon began to spread to other locations across North America

Like a bad virus, this event has indeed now “spread” far and wide –¬†in 2015 alone, rallies were reported in Canadian cities including Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Hamilton, Ottawa and more. ¬†US cities know to have rallies included Denver, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Oakland, Dallas, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Miami and many others. ¬†And even Australia, New Zealand and parts of Europe were toking /¬†smoking up in support.

At this year’s Vancouver event, people were already beginning to assemble at 9:00 AM. ¬†The event has in fact become so¬†large, it even has its own website and organizing committee. ¬†The festivities continued throughout the day, and the crowds continued to grow, as live bands played, and tons of food trucks served up their best. ¬†(As an aside, holy cow¬†can stoned people ever EAT¬†– all the¬†local 7-11 stores were¬†almost completely emptied of …. well everything¬†during the day).

At 4:20, a hush fell over the crowd – as did a massive cloud of pot smoke – as the 20,000 Vancouver 4/20 attendees all lit up at once.

Later in the afternoon, the crowds grea, on this 20th Anniversary event, to an estimated (and slightly suspicious) stoned-out throng of over 20,000 people.

Then came the speeches and the rally posters and the typical, “Harper-is-the-Antichrist-and-Trudeau-is-cool-cause-he’s-a-pothead-though-none-of-us-actually-plan-to-vote” kind of rhetoric. ¬†The “highlight” ¬†was the Crown Prince of Illegal Drug Trafficking, Marc Emergy himself (who had been recently sprung from an¬†American jail cell after serving time for drug trafficking charges). ¬†His momma must be very proud.

Right at 4:19:50, the massive crowd of 20,000 began to countdown from 10 Рand you could hear them for blocks doing so.  I know, because my legal services firm office is literally 1/2 block away from the centre of the action.

Then, right at 4:20, silence fell over the downtown core, as thousands of stoners all lit up their joints and pipes at once.  I think you could see the cloud of pot smoke from the International Space Station.  It was literally like a massive fog had descended without warning on the downtown core.  You could likely smell it from there too.

Now, I leave my office in Downtown Vancouver at 5:00 PM daily, and I have in the past felt stoned against my will, just by walking to the Skytrain station from my office – only 3 blocks away.

IMG_0695-0This year, I decided to quickly walk around the grounds of the Gallery though first and get some photos, and see if there was anything interesting to report for this blog.  What I witnessed was so surprising, I am still trying to process what it is I was seeing.

Beside the Art Gallery there was a bit of a trade expo going on, with perhaps 20-30 booths – business people selling food (food trucks were making an absolute fortune with 20,000 people getting the munchies at once), bongs; pot cookies, brownies and other “baked” goods…

And what’s THIS? ¬†At least 10 booths openly, aggressively, unashamedly selling DRUGS in front of the police. ¬†This wasn’t behind closed doors at a medical marijuana dispensary. ¬†This wasn’t some greasy sketch nervously eyeing the crowd around him as he slipped you a baggie in a back alley.

No Рone booth actually had a 5-GALLON PAIL full of pot baggies Рestimated at tens of thousands of dollars Рall completely out and open, weighing out pot strains with crazy names like Cotton Candy, Purple Kush and Sour Diesel.

Yes, I may have been the only one in the city unaware that¬†there are drug dealers everywhere at a 4/20 Event. ¬†And these dealers don’t need to whisper you into a back alley to complete transactions. ¬†No no –¬†they can reserve a free¬†trade show booth¬†at this event – selling¬†the stinky, sticky buds as if they were¬†selling¬†bulk peanuts at Superstore. They GET A BUSINESS LICENSE From the city of Vancouver¬†to hawk their illegal wares.

Underage? Not a problem – the industry is obviously¬†not regulated since it’s usually ILLEGAL. ¬†I saw many young people who were clearly not yet 18 buying and toking up, under the full view of Vancouver Police officers. Clearly, no photo ID must be¬†required. ¬†In fact, a good percentage of the crowd at the 420 event in Downtown Vancouver were underage high school students.

This fact alone enrages me. ¬†In fact, Vancouver Coastal Health has called¬†for a ban of “edibles” (pot brownies, etc) to minors. ¬†Why? ¬†Because in 2015 alone, more than 100 kids under the age of 15 were hospitalized for overdosing.

If this Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Patricia Daly, actually gave a damn about the situation, she wouldn’t be releasing a statement 2 days before the event when it was bound to be completely useless.

In fact, I think people ought to be writing or calling her today and thanking her for her useless leadership in this issue:

Dr. Patricia Daly, Chief Medical Health Officer & Vice-President, Public Health
800 ‚Äď 601 West Broadway
Vancouver, BC V5Z 4C2
Tel: 604.675.3900
Fax: 604.731.2756

My tongue was firmly planted in my cheek as I started to write this posting – as¬†unlike 20,000 of my¬†fellow¬†citizens in Vancouver on 4/20,¬†I could still actually feel my tongue and my cheek.¬† But when I saw how blatantly the drug trade was allowed to operate in Vancouver on 4/20, I got angry. ¬†Not Nancy Reagan “Just Say No” kind of angry. ¬†No, this was more like Jesus-kicking-the-moneychangers-out-of-the-temple angry. ¬†I wanted to seriously kick some ass.

I wanted to light it all on fire.

Previously, if you wanted to buy pot in Greater Vancouver, I understand you had to catch some sketchy looking guy on a street corner, or call one of these dial-a-dope operations. ¬†(I’m curious – does the¬†“dope” refer to what you are¬†buying or who you were buying it from?¬†¬†Things that make you go hmmmm….)

What a difference a day makes!

IMG_0689-0On April 19, according to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Section 4(1), trafficking in marijuana or hashish or possession for the purpose of trafficking (over 3 kgs.) could land a dealer a life sentence in prison, with a minimum of 2 years if he/she committed the offence (a) in or near a school or any other public place usually frequented by minors (b) at a prison, or (c) with the assistance or involvement of a minor.

But on April 20, these same¬†dealers have been elevated to legitimate business owners¬†with websites, business cards, brochures, letterhead. ¬†And at 4/20, with 20,000 customers ready and willing, one¬†could sell an entire year’s supply of pot in one afternoon- at a place clearly frequented by a LOT of minors. ¬†It’s like Boxing Day for the Blasted. ¬†Black Friday for the Fried. ¬†A giant one day Sale for the Smashed.

And Vancouver Police just stand around and watch. ¬†Well done. ¬†Like the Stanley Cup riots a few years ago, I feel so much better knowing you are on duty, protecting our city’s vital interests and….

Oh great. ¬†You’re high too, aren’t you. ¬†Ugh, never mind.

CCClogo-small

Legalization of Pot? You MUST Be High

As Canada is just a few months away from legalizing pot, a first in North America, we are heading toward a collision course with a destiny that we aren’t even fully cognizant of at the moment, which will change us possibly forever.¬† That’s exactly what the Liberals wanted – but it’s sure not what you’re going to appreciate in the end…

In August 2014,¬†then-Crown Prince (Now King) Justin Trudeau of the Land of Deep Thoughts, came up with yet another page-turner for the salivating press. ¬†He wanted to keep marijuana¬†out of the hands of kids. ¬†He said that¬†young people are finding it…

IMG_4104“…easier to buy a joint than it is to buy a bottle of beer. And that‚Äôs wrong. ¬†Our current approach is not working. We are failing to protect our kids from the effects of marijuana. And you can say all you like about how it might not be as bad as alcohol or nicotine. But the fact is we want to keep marijuana out of the hands of the developing brains of our teenagers.‚ÄĚ

In the United States, marijuana for recreational use went on sale in Colorado on January 1, 2014 and Washington state followed suit that summer.

Trudeau says a Canadian system of controlling and regulating pot would make it harder for young people to buy and would keep profits from going to organized crime and street gangs.

Seriously, what has he been smoking?

Regulate and Tax It To Death

“Its just POT”, we’re told. “It’s harmless, non-addictive and all natural”. Braver voices will even say it’s GOOD for you – touting examples of those suffering from the effects of cancer, HIV, chronic pain, and the benefits afforded by medical marijuana. And logically, if we regulated it and taxed it to death, it would protect kids from getting into it, and unsavory characters from profiting from an illegal trade. Right?

IMG_4103

Nothing could be a bigger lie from the pit of Hell itself. Tobacco, for example, is already regulated to death. So how is it then¬†that 14% of teens 14-19 smoke tobacco regularly in Canada, and 90% of those will struggle for life with it. And not one of them is supposed to have any legal access to cigarettes in Canada. It’s not even considered cool to smoke anymore amongst teens. What hope do we have to regulate something sexy like POT under the same conditions?

Teens are also banned from buying alcohol in Canada. It’s also taxed and regulated to death. Yet the stats related to teen drinking are staggering:

IMG_410079% of people in Alberta over the age of 15 drink to some extent.
–¬†83% of grade 12 Ontario students admit to using alcohol
–¬†49% of Ontario grade 12 students admit to binge drinking
–¬†Among Ontario grade 11 drinkers, 13 years was the average age of first exposure, and 14 years was the average age for first intoxication experience.

We shouldn’t worry though, we wouldn’t¬†possibly see kids abuse pot like they do alcohol, right? ¬†If you actually believe that,¬†put the bong down now.

Then there are Mary Jane mindless wonders ¬†who try to pass on the myth that gangs wouldn’t profit from a legal pot¬†trade, especially if it was taxed and regulated to death.

Perhaps some insight into this can be found in a November 14, 2009, Toronto Star article, concerning the little city of Cornwall, Ontario, where…

IMG_4106Cigarette smuggling may seem a harmless bit of the underground economy, but [RCMP Sgt. Michael] Harvey says it is anything but a victimless crime. Some 25 of 105 known criminal organizations operating in Canada are at work in Cornwall, Harvey told the Star. ¬†These gangs are not only involved in smuggling tobacco, but in taking drugs back into the U.S. on the return trips. They also engage in firearms and people smuggling,” he said.

Taxing and regulating cigarettes to death is exactly why cigarette smuggling has become such a big business in some parts of Canada – they are becoming prohibitively expensive to buy (especially for young people) due to the government tax add-ons.

Making pot¬†a legal venture wouldn’t kill illegal trade – but it will continue to kill low-level dealers, some drug customers, and those occasional unlucky bystanders that may in the future get gunned down in Greater Vancouver’s volatile drug wars.

In fact, it was recently reported on April 14, 2014 that my city of Surrey had 18 shootings in 45 days, with only one fatality:  Arun Bains, 22, the nephew of Surrey-Newton NDP MLA Harry Bains, who was shot dead that weekend and laid to rest on April 24.  Within 2 weeks, the number of shootings had more than doubled.

Tourists walking outside around¬†the world-famous casino “Strip” or Freemont Street Experience zones in Las Vegas are legally allowed to carry around (and drink from as they please)¬†giant 60-ounce¬†Eiffel Tower glasses full of Budweiser; and tourists can get in touch with their tutti-fruity sides as they guzzle 100-ounce saxophone-shaped souvenir cups full of their favorite¬†Hurricane, Mudslide, Long Island Iced Tea, Pi√Īa Colada, Blue Lagoon,¬†Watermelon Buffalo, Goin‚Äô Bananas, Cosmic Lemonade, Polar Punch, Grape Ape… and likely 100 other oddly-named and flavoured concoctions, the effects of which could be scientifically expressed as:

100 oz. alcoholic cocktails + 100¬įF temperatures = 100% chance of needing an ambulance

Now, while this idea of open liquor in Las Vegas may not be new, imagining that one could duplicate the experience in Calgary, Alberta or Charlotte, North Carolina (or at any point on God’s green Earth between) would be equivalent to eating Turkish Delight with the White Witch in Aslan’s Kingdom of Narnia.

untitled

For those unfamiliar with C.S. Lewis’ fantasy land, perhaps the phrase “Satan will get a snowblower first” brings the point adequately across. Or, as they say down South, “that dog don’t hunt“.

Ahem. It ain’t gonna happen.

And frankly, to repurpose the famous phrase: “what’s done in Vegas really should stay in Vegas”. The relative stupidity that’s inherent in that much free-flowing booze would be best kept hidden in back rooms and basements, as is our society’s common practice today.

However, find yourself wandering the streets of Metro Vancouver and you will find an even greater sense of entitlement than Vegas could dare dream of. ¬†Yes, there’s open booze everywhere, though that is frowned upon. Sternly. Really it is. (Cough)

It’s just so difficult to take those rules seriously when people are smoking crack, pot, meth and¬†shooting up heroin in our Downtown Eastside – all openly, unashamed and in some cases, even proudly. It’s possibly the only jurisdiction in the world that has created a union, with more than 2,000 members, who fight for better access to clean drugs, and the opportunity to do said drugs anywhere they wish.

The¬†enforcement of marijuana possession and trafficking laws in this city is so pathetically weak – like the margarita sippers of Vegas, you can actually walk around in most areas of the Lower Mainland, openly smoking a joint. ¬†Though I suppose if you weren’t able to, the police would have a lot of explaining to do, as people here¬†openly smoke CRACK on the street too!

Anyone who thinks Vancouver is a “progressive¬†city” because of the tolerance towards pot needs to walk through the Downtown¬†Eastside during the day and just look around –¬†and¬†I am not suggesting you do this at night.¬† When the sun goes down on this “poorest postal code in Canada”, it turns into Night of the Living Dead. That is the real harvest we are reaping from nonsensical and non-existing drug enforcement in Canada.¬† And Justin Trudeau knows all about our drug problems in¬†Vancouver – he taught drama class in this city for several years.

We aren’t losing the War on Drugs because the enemy is so organized, smart and powerful. ¬†We are losing ground a little more every time the now-Prime Minister Trudeau voices his support for open marijuana trade in Canada…by default.

It’s without a doubt the only War Canada has ever fought where the longer we fight it, the less we remember why – and the more we actually identify with the enemy we originally swore to destroy. We even help finance the enemy’s operations.

Legalization to a 13-year old says endorsement, approval, acceptance…even advertising for drugs.¬†¬†Now even if little Johnny is caught rolling a doobie, he’ll maybe have it confiscated at worst¬†– and because there would be no legal impact, he’d find another doobie before the day even ends.

Every time a teenager in Canada lights up, they get a bit more dopey. ¬†And a bit less healthy – we pointed out in an earlier article on 4/20 Day this year that¬†smoking one joint is equal in carcinogenic (cancer-producing)¬†materials to smoking¬†five cigarettes.¬† So if you smoke 4 doobies over a weekend with friends, you’ve actually smoked a pack of cigarettes.¬† If you are a cigarette smoker already…you’ve doubled your chances of dying from lung cancer, one of the most horrific deaths possible.

Justin Trudeau¬†makes such a great example as a self-confessed pothead –¬†now, when he changes the laws to allow for legalization of pot, it’s like Peter Pan decreeing the laws for Neverland.¬† It has the optics, as Liberals often showcase, of being for and all about him.

Without a doubt, the biggest and most successful street-level dope dealer in Canada this year.. was the Liberal Party.¬†¬†Unlike so many fellow Canadians, we at the Calling Out Community are not fooled by the mass hysteria “highs” promised by Justin TrueDope.¬†¬†Like any dealer, the first things this goof promises¬†are gonna make you feel good.¬† When you awaken the next day from your stupor, however, and realize he robbed you blind the night before, with true sorrow we’ll be here to remind you that “we told you so”.

And we’ll help you kick the habit…in the next election.
